Could never stand the patience of building a perfect scale rig.

Got a couple 3 cell lipos coming now. Now the fun begins. Im thinking about getting the Sidewinder 4600 setup.

Im having trouble keep driveshafts in it now. Now I know im going to have problems. Geuss I better get some MIP ones.

Well I stole the sidewinder out of my other crawler to put on here to get it ready for the 3 cells. I put it in the radio box. It doesnt fit unless you take the heat sick off but I didnt want to do that so I just trimmed them all down just a tad. Doesnt take much at all. I took maybe a 1/8" off all of them and it fits great now. Also cut off the switch so I just use the deans for the switch now also.







Now I just need to seal it off with some silicone so it will be waterproof.

Got bored today so I made a few things.
Made a hook and tied some string on so it kind of looks like a winch line.


Tried making a CB antenna. Its a little big but it will work for now.

Welp I got 2 3 cells today and it awesome with those. It will wheelie on command. Need a little bit bigger pinion though. Still need some more speed for my liking.

Did run into a problem though. Ever since I put on the Sidewinder ESC its been loosing power. So now Im going to pick up a CC Bec tomorrow and that should fix it up.

Might even throw on my buddies 4600kv motor tomorrow to see what she does. Might ave a video tomorrow.

The SW have been known to have BEC heat problems when run on the full 3s voltage. Especially being in a sealed case and powering a high-torque servo. I'm sure a UBEC will fix that right up. Do you still have problems with the truck getting stuck on things?

I had issue with mt SW trying to run a jr 9000t servo on 3s. I just threw in a ccbec and all probs were gone, plus I can run 6.5v to pep that servo up! This is in a 2.2 rig, so the tires are bigger and weighted more.

I can pretty much jump over anything now.

Ill be picking up a CC BEC tomorrow. I made up a receiver pack out of some AA's and it worked perfect. So I know a external BEC will fix it.

Question? How many volts should I set the BEC at without frying the Spektrum receiver?

IIRC they can take up to 9v. The servo most likely can only handle 6v. Unless you also have one of the fancy-schmancy new JR 7.4v servos.....

Cool thanks for the help. Ill set it at 6v or a little under and see what happens. Im just using stock slash servos.

Maybe somebody on here can answer these questions for me?

What is the orange/signal wires for on the output of the bec and is it needed?

I know you pull off the power wire coming from the esc to the receiver when using a bec. But can you pull the black wires out also? What I am figuring is just cut the red and black wires coming from the esc and solder on the red and black from the bec and just use the 1 connector from the servo to clean up the wiring. Like this:



Or if the black wires has to stay could I just splice the black on from the bec in line to its like this: I circled where im talking about.



Which way would work? Dont want to burn anything up but I want to keep it simple and clean.

I wouldn't go so far as splicing it in to the ESC Rx leads. Yes, unplug the RED connector from the Rx plug and insulate it. You don't need to cut the wire, just pull it out of the black connector. The black wire on the ESC RX lead is needed to ground the signal wire. It may make sense to splice the BEC power leads into the main ESC power leads to simplify the wiring a bit. But just use the Rx plug on the BEC and plug it into a spare slot in the Rx.
