It was dealt with on the unplugging, the draging the charger off the table may or may not have been an accident, I never knew. But there were guys cheering because i couldn't charge, oh well. Like i said you might not get that kind of interference, thats what i went through

Work because i gotta, play because i wanna

People here hate Nitro, I love it. I start it, run it about 50 ft from me and it dies, I go after it. Perfect exercise

OTOH, there are a few guys charging A123s by directly hooking them upto 12V marine batteries (with some small resistance from a long length of cord.) The "nuclear" charging method as its known.

Obviously only works in multiples of 12V, but gets her done in 4min. :) No way/time for someone to frag w/ your charging. >_<

HOLY $#@! !!!!!!!!!!!

Once I think about it, the voltage of a 12v battery is right around the peak charge voltage for A123's.... that is awesome!

That can't be good for them charging like that though... I know A123 systems uses a 'pulse' charge to charge them in 5 mins, which will reduce heat. Not that they will get hot.

EDIT: Wait, that's a 3s pack? I would have thought they would use a 4s pack... the voltage doesn't make any sense, a 12v battery is higher than 12v... it would be 14.5 volts at those amps.

^You can only charge up to 3s A123's at a time I believe with a balancer.

Some great A123 testing and other links. Plane guys are way ahead on these things (as they were w/ lipos)

Huge threads, but lots of good buried info. Hooking upto power supplies, generators, marine batts, all sorts of stuff, including more normal methods. I see MetalMan turn up now and then. :)
