ive heard the 8t is sort of brittle. i believe Aangel said something about it
maybe he can come in and give his words of wisdom!

That would be very helpful for me because I will be starting a new project this winter too. My brushless CRT will be up for sale soon in it's entirety so I can do another conversion. So far I've been thinking the 8ight-T is the best candidate. I've seen them racing at our local track and they have such a tight turning radius and are just plain fast. I really like the larger shocks and larger diameter wheels. But maybe I can just put some Losi wheels on the XT8?

Anyone else have any input?

the 8ight is also 170 more than the xt8... making it even more money for the conversion..

i would think for the money the xt8 will be a bombass truck. i dont see anything wrong with it at all and that extra 170 can be saved for another set of batteries.

im probably going to go with the xt8 but if someoene can prove to me a reason why not to then idk.

I had been looking at the XT8, then after doing my research, I ended up settling for a CEN Matrix Arena TR FTE. They looked like a really nice solid truggy, built a little better (IMHO) for bashing. Then I basically tripped over a sweet deal on a Hellfire roller, for less than half what I would have spent on the CEN roller. So I bought it, and am currently kicking myself for it, as I really liked the looks of the CEN. Still, the truggy class seem to be easy conversions (compared to a Revo).


Losi 8T 1.0, Savage Flux - XL style, LST XXL, Muggy, 3.3 E-Revo Conversion and sitting outside 425hp, 831 Tq Dodge Ram Turbo Diesel. It SMOKES

i also considered the mbx5t and the 8t. i based my decision on a years worth of research. i have heard how tough people say the mbx5t is, but one of my friends HAD one and was always working on it. he was so pissed at it that he got out of truggy all together. then there is the 8t. i knew that monster mike owned one and really liked it, but i also read that it didn't work well with everyones driving style and that people were buying them and selling them after they figured out that they couldn't drive them. i finally decided on the xt8 because i owned an xb8tq buggy and it was indestructible and people were raving about the xt8's handling. so i took a chance anyway as the xt8 hadn't been out long. i love this truggy!

I still think the CRT is where its at, I will post some pics of mine for you to consider. The new jammin bigbore shocks are awesome. If I didnt already have the Jammin I would probably get a XT8.

For me, the initial cost of the roller isn't as big of a deal because I can probably get a very slightly used 8-T for less than the XT8. It's pretty rare that a used XT8 is on ebay vs. a used 8-T. Either way, I just want to make sure I'm getting the right truggy for me. I'm only interested in racing - not bashing. I currently have a X1-CRT pro and it's great . . . however, I would really like to go to higher voltage, I have a new battery design I would like to implement, want better turning radius, and I like the idea of a new project.

the shocks aren't like losi shocks in size and from my experience i have had more problems setting up ride hight with threaded shocks than with non threaded. with non threaded the spacers are labled in mm, so you always know how much preload is there. also, look at most high end buggys, they use spacers also. just a thought.

well i have some shocks and tires that will be put on the truck immediatly so its not a big deal to me... but i think im just going to go for the xt8 and let everytone know how it is. when i bash i bash hard and i want something that is going to be up to the challenge.

That's a pretty good point. I guess I'm open to spacers and what you said makes pretty good sense. I wonder how well the XT8 shocks will hold up to bottoming out on jumps. That's one thing I really like about the larger diameter trend in the new CRT and 8-T shocks.

From what I've read, the XT8 seems to be THE truggy. When I was gonna get a buggy, it sure seemed as though the XB8TQ was the buggy of all buggys and I don't doubt it. The XT8 is only better from what I've heard, and judging by that, thats saying alot. The 2 XB8's that were at my local track would DOMINATE the entire buggy class. For the most part it was XB8, MBX5, and then a mixture of Ofnas and such. People swear by the X-Ray.

Wow. Thanks for the input Squee. I'll have to admit . . . I have yet to hear anyone say ANYTHING negative about the XT8. Granted, it hasn't been out for long, but still that's pretty impressive.

Anyone have input on how well the XT8's shocks perform?

so far mine are great, sower. you can use different pistons and tune the shock however you want it.

Yea, if your racing, you might wanna try the Fiorinni (sp?) shock pistons. There really nice from what I've seen. I'm gonna try some when I get a chance. There not cheap though...
