Now we all know why he built that concrete bunker in his backyard. To hide from the rocket fire. LOL

This thing sounds more like a BattleBot than an RC. I'm interested to see how it turns out. Make sure you have some video running for the maiden run. Somehow I foresee some serious carnage due to some sort of misfire.

I can't decide if its more fun
to make it...
or break it...

Silent...But Deadly

I own an auto body and paint shop. We mainly do collision repair, and sometimes custom stuff and restos...

I have a running joke that if anything happens to anyone at work we will throw them in the ditch across the street, no liability if they are off the property! And my word against their's!

I did that once (note the key word there). I ground up 4 smaller engines and tried to pack them into a cardboard tube to make a larger engine. When I ignited it, it just exploded. I was at a safe distance and so unharmed by the shockwave that blew the wing off of the Radio Shack RC car that I had attached the engine to. Those are the heavy, ABS plastic wings, so it was quite a blast.

Just don't forget to throw some lime in there with them. Then it will just be YOUR word!

i just had the funniest idea, take this truck to a race, then when you're loosing or winning or whatever, randomly stop, spin around and wait for the other racers to come around, then fire at them.

one question tho, what are the gullwing doors going to be made of?, are you just going to cut the doors out of a lexan body?

You should put tracks on it. That'd be badass, if you could take them off. Maybe build or buy some tracks and use some 40 series mulcher tires to keep them on?
Edit: It's BATTLE, not BATTEL. Might want to change your sig.

Get me back into RC!

Ha ha. I saw that swivel joint thing at servo city Arct1k linked a while back and it gave me ideas of doing the same thing. However, I wanted to mount the rocket pod onto the swivel and have the gun hard mounted onto the cab frame with a camo Hummer truck body. I didn't think servos would hold up to small arms fire too well, but then again I was dreaming up the greatest YouTube RC vid of all time, with a panning paintball gun firing at a victim Radioshack car, then nailing it with exploding rocket. Then I realized I was 31 with kids and my wife would F#$%#g kill me if I made such a thing. Oh well, lots of luck to you.

I know ServoCity has non-centering 360* servos (continous spin) for helis that would work great w/ the turret. I was thinking of using Estes mini rockets. The small ones that use the 1/2A series engines. You could go soviet ICBM style and use a big engine bastard too. lol. Rocket ignitors are really easy and useful for setting all sorts of incendiary devices off with.

I also had a ton of estes rocket engines as a kid. I took a bunch apart and kept the powder to make my own fireworks (CO had strict fireworks laws, you may have seen the giant smoke snake episode of South Park and I know what I mean.)
One of the best was the powder in a cardbord container mixed with cut-up match heads. The powder would explode making a great big smoke mushroom cloud with flaming match heads flying out in all directions. These could also be fired into the air with a slingshot and detonated midair with great effect.

Rocket engines also found their way into all sorts of projects and toys. Rocket tyco RCs, a rocket RC boat, even a rocket Pinewood derby car. That had a bigass D engine too. In its one and only run, it set the landspeed record pinewood derby cars, as well as highest flying PWD car after it hit a sloped curb down the street, and lastly most obliteratied PWD car when the engine exploded to deploy the chute (there was none.) It rained matches and toothpicks. lol
[btw: Booster stage engines can be used to ignite other incendiary devices in the upper parts of the rocket. I'm just saying.]
Good luck and don't kill anything. Don't aim that thing at children or pets.
