Well its quite obvious that the 1515 1.5D would win out in power because it is a bigger motor internally and equivalently a lower wind. A fair test would be your T8 against the 1512 1Y, which is the most simliar of the neu motors, and in fact, pretty identical internally. But just wait until the stiff wires on the Neu fatigue and cause a short, or dirt eventually gets into the holes. Those are two things you will not have to have to worry about or deal with/prevent with the tekin.

aah...I see. So far I've been blessed with a rather sturdy Neu...the wires haven't flexed all that much.

I guess I should shoot for a lower KV T8 and see how it goes from there.

True.

Then again, it also feels as if there is some lag in the drive train. I've checked my mesh and looked for stuff in the diffs, but I haven't found anything.

Eh...regardless. I now have a T8 motor that I'm looking to either sell or trade.

Race report - 1 rotor came apart after 20 minutes of racing, second rotor came apart after like 3 minutes. Last motor (on my car)so far lasted 40 minutes and seems ok. I fixed both rotors with loctite 648 to get my friends through race. After few minutes both moved by like 1mm but lasted through the rest of the racing day. Well loose rotors were nothing compared to cracked magnet on one 3670 medusa motor.

i need to change the throttle profile to much more aggresive, but so far I am quite happy with the RX8. even without fan it stayed cool and I was running 6 seconds faster laps than with my nitro mugen last year at the same track

And the efficiency of the T8 motor is incredible. It consumes less mAh then my old neu 1512.

Just those rotors........

Has anybody used the RX8 with a Neu 1509 or 1512 and can let me know how well the control is working?

Wallot - Sorry to hear about those rotors.

Thomas - I would think that the 1515 would run similar to the 1509's and the 1512's. From what I noticed, there was a bit of cogging going on. The MMM had less cogging. My RX8 is currently dead...she gave up the ghost just this past Sunday. Bugger.

Guess I'll be running my Hyper 7 with the R1-Pro in it for this weekend.

Do you have a truggy motor? I am using a 1512 right now and am finding it's getting too hot for my liking and for it's own good at times.

Check my other thread "looking for motor for racing....", something to that extent.

What are your old temps and what are the new T8 temps running similar setup?

cheers

yes i have the truggy motor. We run only short 6min mains like you do in 1:10 offroad and after 7 minutes everything is nice and cool on touch. will try not to forget check temps next time.

Would the 1700kv. be too much on 6s lipo? Or should I consider the 1550Kv. model?

For racing yes. The 1550 should be ok, but the 1350 may be even better.

Kv. for Kv. and same voltage on each motor, which is capable of more power, and which runs cooler? A 1515 Neu, or a T8 truggy? I have heard they are pretty close for power, but the T8 has slightly higher efficiency?
