Unbelievable - 03.09.2011, 01:41 AM

As unbelievable as things are with the way MA is trying to portray these "True 150C" Lipos I would not be at all surprized if next year they come out with an ad that shows a new set of Lipos that not only provide 200C continuous, but that if you stare at them long enough they will charge themselves without a charger. And on top of that it would be the same exact cells wraped in a new color flamed package. I am flabergasted to see the outright false advertising, disrespect to its customers, and poor business sense of this company, and even more so that everyone is buying their BS. If any of the major auto makers did this kind of advertising for one of their new Green cars there would be a major class action lawsute being shown on the 6 oclock news. The gaul of some people just amazes me. Not to mention the ignorance of others who would pay these prices for them, when we all know that you are able to purchase better quality cells for less.

Hmmm, still hoping to see a side by side data log with some Turnigy lipo's.

Maybe the snow has melted?

If I could only draw what I see in my head, then afford to build it, and finaly get to play with it...

I probably would make a "friendly visit" if I lived by them.

So I saw MaxAmps over at RCX earlier today, forgot to get pictures but they were offering more gimmicks there. Free massages!! I guess people that buy MaxAmps packs need some stress relief when they blow up?

Forgot to get pictures, I wanted to call them out about their 150c rating but I decided why bother..

Don't worry I will be there tomorrow and will grill them about their, well everything. Let's see if they have any real data at all to confirm this ludacris claim of 150c. We all know that it's bs but let's see what they come up with. Maybe I will film the conversation just to prove a point. Not expecting a good response but I don't care. Lord knows I'm a dick when I wanna be and they screwed me in the past like they have done to so many others so you could say they have it coming.

Pretend to be from an RC magazine, and ask them loads of questions you know they wont be able to answer, like what the actual continuous rating is on their 150c batts ( its 75c, 150c burst ), what voltage the cells hold at 75c current draw ( any size pack- smaller mah capacity is easier to test ), what their warranty stance is ( they claim using lipos in r/c is experimental so no warranty is offered, but then they also offer you a warranty which is pretty crappy ), ask them about the lack of discharge graphes to prove their performance claims and ask them about their state-of-the-art facility where they assemble the packs

I'd also show them a graph of the lipos holding 3.75v @ 22.5c discharge and query how they could possibly be labled as 75c packs since the voltage would drop way below 3.0v per cell.

Also definitely make sure you ask them how any of their cells can output 150c for 3 minutes when they would be flat within 24 seconds:

The bull*hit being slung around in this hobby is amazing.

(BTW - at 150C discharge, a battery would go from completely charged to completely dead in 24 seconds. )

It does appear like someone read my post about the 24 second math and quoted it.

Maybe I'm wrong. Patrick is smart enough to do that kinda math in his head, but it makes me wonder.

Oh don't worry fellas I got some zingers for em. I could sell stink to s@*t if I wanted so I don't think it will be to hard to fain interest and apeal to their vanity a bit before I ramrod em. It's east to bs on a keyboard and be a toughguy but things are different in person. Mostly I'm hoping for a large crowd to hear the conversation and really open their eyes as to what these people are doing and expose the lies. I mean it's up to people to buy what they want but that's no excuse to take advantage of the rampid ignorance of mankind now is it? All in all I'm more excited about everything else at the show but this is kind of like the cherry on top. I get to harass someone while I'm there!

This is going to be a great experience to share with everyone just like the bully beat down. Staying calm and not letting them get you all worked up. As long as you stay calm and under control there is not much they can do to get rid of you or ignore your questions. If it works well then others will join in on your side and demand answers as well. If a few guys in here can join together and show up there tomorrow that would be even better. Either way it would be nice to see and here what happens on video so we can all share in the laughter. Good luck with your assignment 007.

Found Wilcox, but no graphs - 03.20.2011, 11:12 PM

All i can say is wow........

First off i thought long and hard on how to aproach MA and decided since i had my wife and kids with me i would play dumb and see how much info they would really tell me or actually had. Really just wanted to punch Mr. Wilcox square in the face but I resisted...... somehow Their table was covered with pages from car action (big suprise) and all the bs "awards" they had received. The whole convesation was centered around his favorite quote, "if you want the best money can buy this is it", riiiggghhhtt.......

I asked him straight up, where did you get this rating of 150c from? Was it from your own testing or from the manufacture? His reply was "Oh we have done extensive testing, we have this guy that goes to china...." wow all i have to do is send a guy to china and bam! 150c. He went on and on about how superior their packs were over enderland and thunderpower and the like, and how crappy the turnigy cells were! Ha Ha Ha what it felt like to me was "stop buying all our cells from turnigy so we can sell em as 150c. Honestly i looked at the MA cells and they bear a striking resemblance to the turnigy cells but thats a whole nother can of worms....

He was touting how their cells are all hand soldered for lower resistance and just the best of the best. I seriously doubt that soldering them in his garage yeilds any benifit in resistance but who the hell am i? This guy was so insulting to my intelligance i had to just walk away. It was like he thought I was an absolute moron. Granted if you buy into all their crap you are in my opinion, but there was no proof or even basic knowledge of electricity from what i gathered while speaking to him.

Pretty much what i expected from the encounter but no biggie. The packs laying on the table were put together pretty shitty even for my standards. Where the wires exited was dremeled out rough with no uniformity and the hardcases were already coming apart. The fact that these guys do business this way makes me sick. Even worse they are doing well which means people actually believe the crap that comes out of their mouths. I dont know about everyone else but just cause someone says something doesnt mean didly to me. If these packs are so great, how come i never see them at the track? How come they are not winning any national or world titles? Whatever, i told him i raced and what classes and so on. His immediate response was "you need this four cell for your buggy" Itold him i run six cell and he was like "oh thats way too many cells dude" What? really? according to who or what? Sorry i didnt bring home the bacon and have some graph doodle on a napkin but like i said i was resisting violence having someone speak to me like i wouldnt know my ass from a hole in the ground. Basicly he said alot, repeated himself alot and none of it meant shit to me.

Oh and for the record I wish you guys could have seen his face when i told him the best packs i have ever used were three year old turnigy's. he was lookin at me like i was cletus the slack jawed yokel.

Just imagine how many C they could put on their packs if they sent someone to the moon!
