thanks for all the discussion and ideas guys. i have been thinking all of these same things when it comes to the brake setup.
so first off i would love to run these 4 wheel disc brakes by AMS.

the redat hex is 22mm and the baja is 24mm but as already noted they make adaptors available so i could get those and just run baja wheels also. or i could make 22mm discs. they main obstacle with running the disc brake kits is being able to mount the calipers to the hub or wherever it is they mount. i talked with LSRC and they said a custom hub would have to be made for this to work.
so the other option is to run the brakes off the center diff outdrives just like a 1/8 buggy. this will be much easier and will be an easier custom part to make than the hubs would be. then all i have to do is grind down each side of the outdrive a bit and make 2 brake discs. i already have all the components i need to make this work. plus this route will be much cheaper than the AMS set and custom parts.
both options are still up for consideration as i wont know how "easy" it will actually be until i start on it. right now i am working on the motor mount. my pinion and spur gears should be getting here tomorrow.
i have been looking for a free CAD type drawing software online. if anyone knows of anything please let me know. right now i have just been drawing with MS Paint which is a joke. but its good enough for my machinist to work from but i would like to just design everything so its ready for the CNC.
here is a rough draft of the motor mount. i havent put in any dimensions yet but you get the idea. i will post some pics of all the brake components and setup i think i will run soon.
