m'kay...ran two more tests last night. Also had a chance to goof off with the settings, but didn't try via Hotwire. Adjusted values through esc buttons. #3 Throttle Profile, No Limit on Current Limiter, zero Drag Brake.

RX8 (still no fan installed)
Neu 1515/1.5D/F
NeuEnergy 3S 5000mAh, 25/50c
11T pinion
stock center spur
X1-CRT
BBT rims
LPR Bowties
LPR Crimefighter

Test 1:
ran for about 8mins, full tilt up and down the street. Almost zero wheelspin, so I know the ampdraws were decent. Still hesitates at times on start up. Most evident when letting the truck roll to a stop in reverse and then hit the throttle WFO.

temps:
motor - 124
RX8 - 115 (two leds flashing)
batt - 100

Test 2:
Changed out pinion to 14T, ran it for another 8mins. More speed, still tries to lift the front. Got to see the LVC in action on the RX8...it slows down considerably, first. Then it starts to cut throttle. Still cogs...but then again, so did the MMM.

temps:
motor - 118
RX8 - 123 (still two leds flashing)
batt - 110

hope this helps.

So seeing as how we have apples to apples, how do you feel about the start up on the MMM running the neu versus the RX8? Also have you done it with the latest firmware update on the MMM that was just released?

Negative on the latest firmware. The MMM finally gave up the ghost about 3 weeks ago due to the upper case releasing itself from the lower case and then having it's PCB have some little transistor thingies get knocked off. :( Ran a R1 Pro for the meantime...now it has been replaced with the RX8.

In regards to the startup, it appears to me that the MMM may have the edge in terms of being able to run both sensored and sensorless motors. The RX8 seems to cog just a hair more than the MMM did...which wasn't too many times.

In terms of power delivery, it also appears that the RX8 might be a hair shy of the MMM. I don't have a data logger or Eagle Tree to support this (although if anyone wants to send me theirs to borrow, feel free - I promise I shall return it in perfect working order), but it's just what I appear to observe. I'll take a further look into the RX8's settings...it could also be that perhaps I'm not doing something right.

So far, it's not too bad. I'm a little disappointed, mostly due to it seeming to be more or less the same as a MMM. With the $334 price tag, I could have gotten 2 MMM's.

BUT.....I shall withhold my final judgements on the system AFTER I properly race the RX8 and run it with the sensored motor.

I shall strive to both this weekend.

Most likely the motor timing. Timing on caslte products is measured in degrees and Tekin uses their own scale. 10 degs on the MMM is way more than a timing of "10" on the tekin. I think a timing of "30" on the tekin is the same as 10 degs of actual timing.

Did I read somewhere in this thread that you had to add your own caps to the RX8 (as opposed to the MMM which already has them inside)? I think maybe it was Tex that said that. But I just looked at the manual online, and I didnt see anything about that.....

Losi 8T 1.0, Savage Flux - XL style, LST XXL, Muggy, 3.3 E-Revo Conversion and sitting outside 425hp, 831 Tq Dodge Ram Turbo Diesel. It SMOKES

The caps for my FXR came with the controller but I had to solder them on myself. Maybe the RX8 is different, I was just assuming.

RX8 tested and reviewed. Don't want to threadjack anymore than I already have, so here's a link:
