FYI: Someone fried a MMM V3 on 7s a123, I wouldn't risk it, just run 6s2p.

7s2p a123 is the same voltage as 6s lipo. The fact that it failed most likely had nothing to do with running that voltage.

i am in te process of making a very similar buggy using emaxx chassis components. My chassis will be a welded steel tube affair, with lots of cross bracing and a solid skid in the center.

I am still in the design phase and an trying to get a good chassis design figured out. I may even fab up a sheet steel box section that will run from the front bulk to the rear, and then weld some outrigger tube sections to that. Or it may be all tube with a sheet steel center skid (prefered design).

I am going to go with a 4wd setup most likely, and use a center diff. That way I can have fornt and rear mech brakes and use a kb45 motor on 8s-10s lipo. Need a big motor to move this beast around!

I also have a different All4wd creation and looking for a good power plant and what to use for center diff and if do a front diff ?

I know i said this before but new vids are coming soon, I promise. Its a lot faster with the kb-45 8l motor instead of the wanderer 9xl and I got the flm 7075 diff cup. So far the diff is holding up after 5 or so full runs. I think i'm going to get a kb45-10xl motor as it's slightly over geared as it is. With 200 less kv and more torque I think it will be the ticket. Thanks for the complements guys.

Bringing up an old thread, but after reading this, I just ripped off my son's razor scooter for the chassis.

Mock-up has started. Nice job on the 5e. I hope mine turns out half as well.

...slightly off topic so back to regular programming...Any updates on this build?

There are updates. I replaced the kb45-10l with a kb45-8xl. I haven't tried 7s2p yet, I'm still only running 6s and I'm happy with the speed. I'm messing with timing and gearing as my motor temps went up after the motor change. I think I'm under geared. I lost access to the video camera but I'm trying to get video of it. Overall I'm very happy with it.

Sadly, havent done much with it to be honest. I fried the MMM running 7s2p a123. I was much happier with its speed before the controller quit. I couldn't be happier with the build, very solid. I did purchase a 10s controller over a year ago from lutch. Havent even tried it yet Plan on running it some this spring. I will get pics and vids up sooner or later.

Thanks coolhandcountry for getting me back into this project. I have a tendency to jump from project to project. I ordered a new pinion tonight so should be running soon. I thought I would post some better pics also. Video when i get the pinion.

Lutach's 10s speed control with kb45 8xl plan on running 8s2p a123 until i get big boy lipo's this summer.

The tank like Great Assembly front bulkead with ti skid plates

Shows how old this maxx was. Most the al parts are hardcore racing. The al arms are the original narrow width, ti arm extensions bring them out to "wide maxx" width.

The front arms are plastic (normal width) for durability. Used the extra set of ti arm extensions on the front to widen it. Carbon tube steering links.

I do plan on either replacing or at least de-anodizing the shocks.
