Good to see you got it up and running and repaired. I was surprised to see no monitoring of temps with your first run vid. Lots of load (full throttle doughnuts) but no temp monitoring. I imagine you cut that out of the vid, how did she run for temps?

Of course this comes from guy running Fiego motors in MT's... They're very demanding and require constant temp monitoring (crap motors). The Neu's are probably ice cold in comparison...

Good morning xcntrk...
It feels great to be back up and running it.. Actually temps where / are never a problem (thank you RC god!).. I'm running a Neu 1515 3d with the MGM 160 amp ESC, my gearing is 20/52 and after 20 minutes of all out bashing my motor is 120, ESC is 105 and lipos are 95.. I love this TRUCK…

Have a great one..

Good day Shaun. Well I do believe that I received the two piece v-2 hybrid bulk/diff pair for $140. I also picked up the HB lightning diffs & the hardened diff gear sets. I just ordered nearly $200 in bearings from VXB and I am waiting on those to complete the diff project. I just got tired of looking for one bearing or another, and the prices on the RC sites are just rediculous. In all I purchased 98 bearings and a digital caliper. That should keep me going for a little while.

No stock drivetrain here. Everything that I run in my drivetrains is steel for longevity. I donot want to waste any time having to replace plastic parts down the line. Plus I ordered a set of aluminum Savage diff cups from RCM Mike and a couple sets of the custom stainless steel dogbones from R/C alloys to complete the package. I also just ordered two more monoblocks and a couple of their dogbones from UE for two of my other Maxx trucks. I should have everything completed in the next week or so, but the problem is that we have the movers comming in on 23/June to pack everything up for the move to Korea. So any hopes of getting them mounted in one of my setups and playing with it, will have to wait until everything gets unpacked at the other end somtime in mid August. The only thing that will be left to get for my collection is a few really good motors. I have the Plettinberg Big Maximum, but I am thinking about getting some Neu's and maybe a Mega 30 series. I am still doing some research on performance and pricing before I make any final decisions. I already have some Maxamps LIpos, but only 2S. I am hoping to find some really good 3S & 4S 25C Lipos at a discount somewhere then I will be ready for some real fun with the boys.

I purchased a Nomadio Sensor a while back for my controller, but I have not even set it up yet. I am trying to get 4 trucks setup at once so I can get my boys into it at the same time. I have two stock EMaxx's for them to learn on first, before I let them jump into BL. I think 2009 is going to be a fun year for us.

WOOWWWww... I get excited just reading about your stuff.. (Yes I have issues)...

That’s great new for you, I bet you’re really looking forward to making some progress and probably a little stressed out about your upcoming move to Korea... Best of luck with your on-going projects and of course safe travels to you and your family Jerry..

Have a great Memorial Day Weekend..

Shaun.

Just a quick update for the team. - 06.21.2008, 01:58 PM

She’s running great!..

I just love this GEVO, it continues to be extremely reliable in so many ways, plus it’s now been at the local three times and it still just works like a champ. I also ran it on 8s the first time last week, OMG!!! You would haft to be there to experience it, insane / too much power & speed!!, I can’t wait to show the boys next month at our So-Cal bashing day. Hhhheeeee

No issues at all with the diffs, no leaks, no weird noises, etc, the fast lane single speed trans is holding up like a champ, Neu and MGM are running great holding & holding temps around 120 / 105 after 20+ min of bashing. I am wearing through my tires though (rrrrrrr) OOoooo for the record, I still have the original wing! (hhaaa!) and I love it.. My fighter body continues to take a beating but is still holding it own..

Bottom line all of the Hybrid and high dollar items are all working as one would expect.

Well that about all I’ve got for now.

Thanks for your time and have a great weekend..

Yeah some is left but how long remains the question, at the track they just aren’t hooking-up anymore.. I'm thinking of going with the bow-ties this time?.

Thanks for the compliment Sir..

Have a great work week..

Tires - 06.23.2008, 04:16 AM

Thats ok Shaun. Just keep working those tires and you will be ready for some drifting. We don't need no stinking tread..... With the way your tearing up those tires maybe you should go with something a little more meaty and aggressive. You must be spinning the crap out of those wheels. Nice to see that your back to having fun with the truck anyway.

Well the movers are here and packing up all of our stuff today(Monday). They are going to pack up the hobby room after lunch. Man I sure am going to miss my toys. they are packing everything up today and loading up the truck tomorrow. we fly out 01/July for our 5 week journey with stops through DC, Vegas, Cali, Hawaii, and finally Korea, and all on the goverments dime. WooooHooooo. It sure is nice to be retired following the wife for a change.

I broke it again!... - 06.30.2008, 03:08 AM

Well I found a new construction site this morning where they are performing the initial site work and I decided to take out my Gevo & my X-Ray and beat the hell out of them on the fresh soil. It started out like every other bash day, good weather, no crowds and open area to myself.. I just finished up completing my XB8 buggy conversion and thought I would try it out first. Well it rolled all of 3’ feet and started to smoke!?? (FIRE) What the hell??... It turns out that my new MGM 12012 controller couldn’t handle 4s and it went up in smoke!.. Now I know how the MMM team feels…

Well screw that!, I'm came prepared so I pulled out my gevo and started down / through the site, the truck is running great, ok at least this is working.. 5 minutes into the bashing the dam thing breaks??.. I'm thinking what the hell??, it turns out that I snapped my rear diff output shaft. Dam it!..

The only bright thing is that since I needed to remove my rear hybrid diffs to make the repairs, it gave me the opportunity to review my gears and my 3905 drive shafts after (4) months of abuse on 6s..

They say that with all negatives you experience there are equal positives that you also experience, lets test that theory..

Negatives:
• Broke two trucks today
• Fried my new MGM controller

Positives:
• Now I'm sending two controllers in to MGM for repairs, so next month I should have a surplus of working controllers. ( 4 MGM & 1 MMM)
• I know that those Hybrid diffs are worth they weight in gold and overall everything is holding up quite well.
• I know that I should have my GEVO up and running by the So Cal bash.
• Mike has the parts I need in stock.
• It’s another opportunity to drink..

Have a great week everybody!..

Damn, unlucky on your buggy, must of been bad to do all that build time and no go. Did only the ESC go up in smoke? Nothing else got ruined by the ESC?

It freaked me out DB, I didn’t have the body on it (luckily) and then I saw it smoke so I knew (shooot) I'm screwed!, but then it started to catch fire!, my Lipos!... I just started to through dirt on my new clean shinny buggy!.. (it killed me!) but I wanted to save my 4s before they went up in smoke and blowup my buggy. Luckily it appears that just my controller is toast. I got busy working on my GEVO to tell you the truth to check the rest of the car out, that a project for another night.

Nothing!.. Hahahahaaa..
