Well, you aren't taking as long with this project as you are with most others that you have done.

Well guys after a long wait my build is finally back on track. The motor was installed awhile back with four 90 degree steel brackets to hold it 100% secure onto the chassis. Im going to be running all 10awg wire. 10awg wire is already installed onto the motor output with deans connectors. I will be purchasing more 10awg for the harness to wire three 12v PB's toghther into one ESC. I will for sure be using an AstroFlight 204D "HV" brushed airplane ESC. It handles up to 60 volts input and has a 60a output. Ive talked to people on RC-Groups that run combos such as mine in their planes with similar motors minus the heavy batts and they say that the esc doesnt even get a tad bit warm so im confident it'll be fine. Plus its going to stay below 30 degrees here for the next 4-5 months or so. The rollcage was reinstalled and I cut out the 2nd servo mount in the front for room for the ESC. The batteries will be placed one behind the motor and 2 on the left side of the chassis towards the rear. Total weight will be around 32.8lbs. Ill post pics of it here in a few minutes.

Looks awesome Ryan, should be one hell of a truck.
As far as belt vs. chain, I have to agree with Ryan, the chain would be better, would have a far more solid/crisp throttle feel than a belt, and would be stronger. And as the chain stretched, you could take links out as needed. Cant do that with a belt. Good luck, should turn out awesome.

Why not make a tensioner for the chain? I'm not sure if they actually exist, but I've had an idea for a while: Put a gear on a spring-loaded mount that meshes into the chain and if you use the right spring it should push the gear down into the chain as it stretches thus keeping the tension right. I'm not sure exactly how well it would work, but I'm surprised that I have never seen this actually done before.
You've got an awesome build going. I've wanted a 1/5th for a long time but never had the money to get even a gas one (not to mention go electric with it). Hopefully you can get it running soon, it's looking good so far.
All I ever wanted was an honest weeks pay for an honest days work.

Thanks guys, Hey U.S. is your idea related to a spring loaded chain tensioner like this bike shifter.

Yeah, that's about the closest thing I've seen to it. IMO it's a pretty good idea. One of the biggest arguments for using timing chains in 1:1 engines is that they stretch (belts need replaced ever 100k miles though, I don't like that kind of maintenance). I figure a tensioner would be a good way to keep chains running longer but it seems nobody ever uses one. I forgot completely about a bicycle though. If you could make one for your RC, you'd probably never need to re-tension your chain.

That is a very securely mounted motor you have there. It's missing a wire, though; can you run a motor with only two wires?????????????
Haha, looking good man!

Haha, ya it is a good idea IMO. Ill look into it. And yes its not brushless. Ill prove to you guys that HV brushed is still somewhat cool.
