would it still affect it?

also, you are right... it does not look to be goin 65. but the radar is more accurate then our eyes.

The radar should be on a tripod perfectly still. As for being more accurate, not really. Radars, especially cheap ones as that is, are extremely inaccurate. It looks like a 45-50mph truck. Still plenty fast, but not brushless speed.

I'm getting ready to race one of my friends T-maxx thats all maxed out in a couple of weeks in our work parking lot. I'm going to try and make sure there are no long stretches because I think he is good for over 60mph too. I think I can take him on the sheer torque the XL motors have on startup. I have my 7xl running 41mph with 20/68 gearing and the SPC 8000mah packs.

I wouldn't worry about Smoker's beating us flashlights anytime soon, we got the advantage. Nitro's are mechanically limited by fuel and burn rate within the engine, unless a better design is brought out, Possibly 4 strokes or diesels, Nitro will never dominate the Brushless/ lipo setups we got. With the 4 strokes, there will be a learning curve, much like brushless/lipo, to optimize performance. Till someone does something radical, We are safe from losing ground to nitro's

Before dumping my T-maxx I thought many times of going 4-stroke but was laughed at and told it wouldn't work. I didn't have the ability or connections I do now to make my own chassis and what not so I gave up. IF I ever got back into nitro I would go 4-stroke only. Those engines are so much more reliable and easier to tune and keep in tune. I think 4 stroke would be a lot like low KV BL motors in where you would take advantage of the torque and not the RPM.

I also think that most claiming their nitro monster trucks break 60 is extremely wishful thinking. When these guys do it properly and strap GPS's to their rigs then come up with repeatable runs at these speeds, I will be impressed. Until then.......

Edit: dbl post.

Not to mention the weight and heft a 4 stroke would bring. Sure, low end torque but no RPMs so the gearing would be very limited. You would probably need to design your own gears, maybe make some spurs into poinions. If I were to build something with a 4 stroke, it would be one of these motors.

Oh it would require a custom motor mount, custom chassis, and custom gears. I originally did some preliminary investigation and at one point there was a .40 conversion for a t-maxx chassis but I was thinking more of something in the .90 range.

I would like someone to get real inventive though and do a turbine 5th scaler. One could use a helicopter style turbine.

I assume this has been around for big planes, as I spend hours watching them on the weekend wondering how the nizzle they fly, but in a 1/8th buggy application it seems large, I was thinking like my compagnucci car. a 1/8th with electronic ignition... then add 4 stroke

E-fanatic 10.10.2008 09:41 PM

My bushnell radar gun if not on a tripod will very its speed too(I didnt even think about that) I will do some of the youtube searches so I can slam my friend nitro clames in his face! I have never seen a nitro mt go that fast(all the ones I have seen are slow) Even my friens lrp spec 28 powered lst is slow. My brushless lst2 smokes it even on a 4s lipo, even when I had it set up to run off of a 5s batt. I even brought it to the lhs and smoked all the nitro guys there too. Thats why I was so amazed to see this guys 65mph revo.

Thanks for the help and I am now off to find some electric speed videos

All this radar talk.. this is why I always use GPS; mine happens to be the garmin etrex Venture Cx, awesome little unit, very accurate and small enough to strap in with out issues. The only downfall to a GPS is if you don't hold the top speed long enough it may not register, so any reading you get on a GPS you know is on the money.

Thunderbruiser 10.17.2008 10:37 PM

kyosho used to make a touring car series based around 4 stroke engine use...if I could find one I'd so love to have it..and it would probably end up being my 1 and only self queen

andy85 10.19.2008 08:04 AM

its a fast truck but our high voltage setups are still faster...
