There is no controller in them. They either use a simple switch, or in some cases a relay and switch setup.

3s is about the same as a 12v lead setup, and runtime depends on the packs used. A 10ah lipo will run twice as long as a 10ah lead, because lead acid capacity is determined by a 1/10c discharge.

The old 4ah 10C enerland packs I have, I run in 2p configuration. 8ah gets better than 45minutes of runtime with my butt on there, and enough punch to pull a wheelie if I am not careful about leaning forward.


Generally these things are not run over 18v. Typical vehicles are 6v now, so guys that are running three packs are running 18v.
