that's kinda what i was thinking -lol-

Although must admit - i actually DID that - thinking it'd work, so was totally in the same frame of mind -lol-

I've made a crude drawing to back up what Mike is saying about reversing the linkage on the servo.
In this drawing the green circular arrows represent the servo movement direction.
You can see that with the servo horn/linkage in position A, the black linkage line is clearly being PULLED away from the blue dot (other end of the linkage).
With the servo horn in position B, the red linkage is clearly PUSHING towards the blue dot.

This shows how you can get the opposite effect by physically moving the servo horn/linkage to the other side of the servo.

Hope this helps!

Thanks, Joe.

ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!! i get ya now :o -lol-
Except one thing.....
The servo is laying totally flat on the chassis, so it wont actually allow clearance for the arm to be positioned that way....

But this gives me a thought...... Maybe i can mount the servo higher on those 2 mounts there.....

See how i'm using the upper two holes in the servo tabs? maybe i could use the lower holes in the tabs....might need higher mounts to give it some support tho, otherwise, only like, half of the servo tabs are actually held in position - is that right? do you think it would need extra support? (assuming kinda so?)

sorry - i was being confused earlier - it's quite hard explaining things to me without pics tho - i'm one of those 'gotta see it to understand it' ppl -lol- Thanks guys :D

If you flip the servo over on the chassis it will change the direction it works. It will be on the opposite side with the arm up.

danhfvcsd 01.05.2006 09:23 PM

sorry guys - ain't gonna work -lol-

First, i tried raising the servo by using the LOWER TABS in the servo..... and then i took the servo arm off, turned it 180 degrees (as if it was to spin 180 degrees - so the arm now faces down - like batfish drew out) and put it back on...

which would have worked quite well, exept for the fact that the tranny mount is in the way of the servo arm's movement...
i can't shave any material on the tranny mount - or it will be down to the screw holding it there.

The actual output gear on the servo - needs to be on the side that it is on in the pics on pg 1 - the motor wires are in the way there....

The easiest thing for me to do is grab one of those servo reversing leads i think - i'm not one for modifications really -lol-

coolhandcountry 01.05.2006 10:28 PM

did you try turning the servo 180 degrees. and putting it back on
The arm is right now just flip the servo so the arm is up. or that what you talking about hitting.

RC-Monster Mike 01.05.2006 10:47 PM

A taller servo mount wouldn't be too hard to make. You could probably just mount a block or something under the current servo mount to raise it up.
Funny that you don't like to tinker/modify, considering the truck we are talking about! :)

ummmmm..... -lol- sorry for being so confusing!!! I'm terrible at explanations hehehe

http://www.ausrc.com/galleries/danhf...ST/BLST_44.jpg

In that picture - it's probably in the optimum position... as it is installed there - it is applying brakes when applying throttle via the TX.

*If i raise the servo so it's using the lower two holes on each servo mounting tab - it gives the clearance for me to rotate the arm's position 180degrees and mount it - but then comes into contact with the tranny mount when it moves (applies brakes).
I cant' clear the materia from the tranny mount - as the screw that mounts the tranny is in the way.

*If i FLIP the servo 180 degrees to the left or right (in the above shot) so that the TOP of the servo (in above shot) then becomes the BOTTOM of the servo.... this causes me problems with the position of the servo arm.
See how in the above shot, the arm is on the left? if i Flip it (as described above) the arm is moved to the right side - this then brings the arm in the way of the motor wires, and is no good.

I'm pretty sure, the only way i can mount this servo is to have it as placed/mounted in the photo above - so it must be reversed electrically.... think i need that reversing lead....

by the way - please let me know if the above made sense - not sure if i worded it all right or not -lol-

danhfvcsd 01.06.2006 12:50 AM

well, it's not really that i don't LIKE to tinker/modify - it's just that i have no tools to do it with -lol- My toolbox consists of only the most basic stuff.... i'm still without a dremel!!! -lol-

I'm also not the most creative/mechanically minded person round the place either -lol- But i do enjoy taking things apart and putting them back together :)

I think if the reversing lead isn't too hard to get access to locally, i might go that route, as the servo looks pretty neat down low there.... otherwise - i can source some higher small plastic blocks from somewhere/thing and use them, to get the arm a little higher - it'd need to come up almost 1-1½" i'd guess...

I dunno - i just figure if i can get the reverse lead - it'll make life alot easier - and i'm one who likes to take shortcuts and easy ways out -lol-
