I hope the pipe will be okay, it's made for the 5b by jetpro so it should be cool.
Well here's why I said that. With 2 strokes your pipe, in brushless terms, gives you your emf feedback. By playing with the way the exhaust bounces around the inside of the pipe, and the volume of the pipe, tells it where to produce it's power. This is why dinged upped pipes can make such a big difference on 2 strokes. Adding turbulence to the pipe effects it. By splitting off the exhaust, I would think it would be counter productive against receiving back, "clear signals" But on the Vid it says drag pipe. So if it is tuned specifically for wot , with little bottom end, it might not matter. For that matter , it just might not matter, and is all accounted for.
I know the guys building these things know these things, but often time the "coolness" of an item, will overcome the ugliness of functionability. Intuitively I would want a short, fat pipe for good bottom end torque. But again, what do I know about this Baja motor, 0.

You're right on the money asheck. Improper backpressure is almost as bad as an air leak. I'm hoping these pipes are symetrical enough as to equalize each other and allow a good tune.

Worst case scenario it's a blubbering failure, then I seal off one side and only use one pipe. It actually states you can run one side or the other if you want to balance other components you may have on your car, or run 'em both for balls to the walls power.

We should all know in a week or two, I'll let y'all know:yes:

For me it's Kawasaki Racing Oil mixed 32:1 that does it! I even run it in my 1996 Polaris SLX780 (778cc Triple-Cylinder 2-Stroke) Jet-Ski...except in a 50:1 ratio, since that's what it calls for. As soon as my triple-pipes get here, my HP will go up from 96HP to 138HP...and I should finally reach the 80mph mark!

Edit: This is what it will look like some day when I can get the correct parts & pieces.

my xlt was a 600 triple, when I put the triple pipes on, jetted and clutched it I would walk all over 7 and 800's out of the hole. They'd sometimes pull away on the top end, but only on a huge field or lake.

I love polaris triples! You'll love the pipes! Good looking pwc man!

Thanks...I bought it new in '96 and have enjoyed it every summer since then, except the summer after I broke my back (riding it all day still kills my back)!

In stock form, the '96 SLX780 was the fastest ski on the water in 1996 & 1997, unless one of the racers put their '96 SLX780 Pro or '97 SLX785 Pro in the water, but those didn't count because they were not production skis or even sold to the public at that time, they were only sold to the factory racers.

All of the "all-yellow" '96 SeaDoo XPs running around thought they were bad-ass until my SLX got through with them, heh! My 778cc ski beat their 910cc skis out of the hole and on top-end!

Since all Polaris skis up through '97 were powered by Fuji engines, they are the most sought after years, because the '98 and up skis were powered by Polaris-built engines and just weren't as fast, and couldn't be made very fast...not as cheaply or easily as you could a Fuji-powered ski, anyway.

Hell, it's still one of the fastest skis on the water, and it's 14 years old! The only mods to it are a Solas prop and the stock Ocean Pro carbs, which I sent to Ocean Pro and had them bore/build them. They are jetted for the stock exhaust right now, but will simply need a re-jet when the pipes get here. I might run a dry water-box after it gets piped, depending on how loud it is. If it's too loud with a dry box, I will run a modified wet box.

Anyway, I am getting the thread way off course...

I freaked out prematurely. DDM assured me that despite the 29cc sticker that was on my motor that I got the 30.5 that I ordered.

Now to install the bad boy...

Bondonutz 06.07.2010 03:30 PM

Doesn't make a whole lotta sense, If it's a 30.5 why would there be a 29cc sticker on it in the first place ?

nitrostarter 06.07.2010 03:32 PM

Is it a 29cc base that they bore to 30.5cc?

Bondonutz 06.07.2010 03:34 PM

Well sure that makes perfect sense but after all that work why leave the sticker on a freak people out ?

_paralyzed_ 06.07.2010 04:46 PM

yep, a 29cc base stroked to 30.5

If you look on their site the 29's have a 29cc sticker and the 30.5's have the same sticker in the same spot but it's blank. Maybe they photoshopped the 29cc out for their store pic.

Whatever, I trust them. Either way, I'm getting wrenching.

nitrostarter 06.07.2010 05:17 PM

You can always tear the engine down and break out the digital calipers. But I'm not sure on the starting measurements to compare to.

Chadworkz 06.07.2010 06:00 PM

I am sure they are working on getting some new "30.5cc" decals/stickers made up to put on the 29cc engines that they bore/stroke (I am sure the 29cc is BORED to 30.5cc, not STROKED to 30.5cc) to 30.5cc.
