I have "The Jigs Up". It works great. They even have an updated version now that allows you to rotate a deans connector both ways. The nicest thing about using a jig vs. a pliers with rubber band is that you don't mar up any of the bullet connectors. :intello:

The jigs subtracts heat from the connectors you are welding (not the case of the deans) and this is a bad thing. Worst 20$ spent in rc equipment.

How can plastic draw heat from the connector? All I use it for is deans. It allows for a quick, clean joint with having to hold a hot wire with your fingers. If you feel it is useless I think you may be using it wrong.

I found one of these at Habor Freight and Tool for under $5.00 and it works perfectly for my needs as a soldering buddy.

I have one of those, got it the same place, and it just doesn't do what the jig can do. Trust me.

Yup, those "helping hands" sure come in handy. Especially for bullet connectors.

I soldered on a few more hands and ditched the glass on my "Helping Hands" now I call it a "Handy-Jig".

For bullet connectors I use a small block of wood with the proper size holes drilled in it. Simple and easy.

The "helping hands" that I have is so poorly made it wobbles all over the table when I try to solder. It's no contest!

I am not sure I understand what you mean.

I have some soft plastic jaws for my vise. Also, I have a small clamp on vise (what I was referring to) that has a plasticy type of coating on it and it works great for bullets that will transfer heat.

I like the look of the 2nd one myself, but the smaller suction one looks handy and have plastic jaws.

I use something just like this, nice to have as a supplement to my big mounted vise.

Yeah, wood is a very poor conductor of heat. I had planned to do that myself. But then I would have a holey piece of wood that someone else would likely throw away (my employess like to toos out the useful stuff and save all the junk). Maybe if I find a nice cut off I will make one and label it well, and put a disclaimer that I will castrate anyone who touches it.

As the one with the baddest soldering station :lol:in this forum, a vise with plastic/rubber jaw pads is all I use for EC5, Deans, bullets and whatnot. But that "The Jigs Up" is a pretty cool tool.
