thanks joe, i just placed and order for my wing now. I got this plate too though, it is made by new era models and it allows for easier mounting of the wing support to the truck. Here is the link if anyone else is interested. http://www.neweramodels.com/item.cgi?part_id=2873

Thanks for the info. I may consider to get one as I'm considering to swap out the original gear box holder bits for the quick change type of the X.

yeah cant wait to get mine. Looks really sharp with a wing. good job on the build man. looks like a truggy now how you hold the suspension down like that. Good Job! I like it!

joeling 09.08.2008 08:25 PM

My weekend got rained out & I was stuck indoors. Decided to make good use of the downtime & rejuvenate the savage. I didn't like the her handling when I last ran her in the configuration shown the previous posts using the big bore from HPI. I have got all the parts but was too lazy to do anything :

1) upgrade the savage bulk to the X
2) install the racing suspension
3) install the sbb from nanda racing
4) install sway bars

hey joe looking great... is that the 3mm spring steel rod that you bent to specs or a modded sway bar from another vehicle? Good luck if you get her running this weekend.

brushlessboy16 09.10.2008 04:08 PM

Just buy two sets of nice rear oversized truggy shocks.

joeling 09.12.2008 07:18 AM

TBH, those are steel rod from a bicycle spoke. This is the nearest thing that i can find that resembles spring steel. Hope it works. Yep I need some luck as I will be running a brand new unmodded MMM.

Those are Nanda super big bores I bought from my lhs for about USD30 per pair c/w springs. I think they are known as radical rc or something in the states.

t-maxxracer32 09.22.2008 03:52 PM

that thing is awsome.

im looking at a members savage right now so hopefully i will have my own to look at soon!

what does it weigh?

MTBikerTim 09.22.2008 07:17 PM

They weight a tonne or at least mine does. As for the MMM use a bec cause that is the difference between my number 5 and the other 4 that stopped working.

joeling 09.23.2008 04:32 AM

Yeah it does a bit. I think the auw is 5+kg but still, the 7XL with a BK9920 I had in there earlier on could make it fly. I have since detuned to a 8XL + MMM. Still no chance to try it out yet because of racing activities. Just raced my BL X1 buggy against nitro over the weekend. Very fun & the nitro boys looked mildly disturbed

Dang!

Im loving your savage. Im building one in a few days. FLM kit ordered, and then sent to anodizing.. Hehe

Any vids?

t-maxxracer32 10.09.2008 01:11 AM

ill be building one in a couple weeks too!!

got the front and rear assembly + the tranny.

im about 1/10 the way there!

joeling 10.09.2008 01:42 AM

Hi guys,

Step on it already :whip: :mdr:. You'll like it :yipi:. Use a Losi 8T body, fits real nice.

No vids though, the last time this truck ran was 6 months ago in the mud. Since then, did a lot of cleaning + some upgrading & now still waiting for the body but I've been distracted with preparation for a big local race coming up first 2 days of next month.

I have all the alu peices from a savage anoed black (including FLM. pics soon) and im selling my on road stuff. So I will buy buying, or trading for a roller to get my F/R end:mdr:

I cant wait!

How do you like the LPR's on there? I love them, I cant decide between those, and the XL savage tires. The LPR handle alot better, and are lighter. but i am not building this thing to handle like a dream:lol::party::whistle:

t-maxxracer32 10.09.2008 12:13 PM

i was wondering what else i would need other than what i have.

do i need any other peices?

i figure this is what im missing.

flm conversion
tires
body
center driveshafts
electronics

what else will i need?

heres the front end (rear end is the exact same condition and everything)
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=130254828892

BlackedOutREVO 10.09.2008 05:54 PM

Honestly that gets you started. But its from a savage 25. It will for sure need a new driveline. A tranny

And I think thats about it

danhfvcsd 10.09.2008 06:14 PM

If you get the flm conversion, you get the centre shafts included...

that's a real nice truck joe - you'll have to get us some video mate! =)

oh really.

thats sweet.

thanks!

bl-is-future 10.10.2008 08:45 AM

t-maxx i would also get the 1 piece rear alloy hubs. That way you dont have to adjust the rear wheel and they track perfect. I had the stock just in alloy and i kept breaking my tie rod. Since i put the 1 piece hub on i have not had a problem at all. Was actually able to blow out some drive cups finally.

t-maxxracer32 10.10.2008 12:04 PM

the 1 peice comes in that suspension upgrade?

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXMJH4&P=7

bl-is-future 10.10.2008 12:48 PM

yep that would be the piece i am talking about. Doesnt seem like it would make that bg of a diff but it does.

t-maxxracer32 10.10.2008 12:58 PM

i have that on my list of stuff to buy.

bl-is-future 10.10.2008 01:08 PM

yeah that kit is nice only thing i didnt like is you have to run 2 shocks in the front and i jump a lot so that was and issue so i bought the things i needed all separate. I tell you what though, i lowered it a little bit put a wing on and it handles SO GOOD. Tracks through the air damn near perfect and the COD is really low so it takes quite a bit to flip it on a turn. throttle flippage on the other hand is very common lol. I just got my power supply to charge my batteries so i will have to get a vid up.

t-maxxracer32 10.10.2008 01:19 PM

i plan on running single muggy/lst shocks on it. with the conversion kit will that be OK?

bl-is-future 10.10.2008 01:32 PM

yep just make sure you get the standoffs for them shocks so they don't rub. OR use 2 stand offs that come stock with the FLM kit. You get eight so you will have 2 for each side. That should give you enough clearance and save you some money.

t-maxxracer32 10.10.2008 01:34 PM

sweeett.

im really lookin forward to this build.

thanks bl

bl-is-future 10.10.2008 01:38 PM

give me a holler if you need help. BTW sorry for hijacking this thread JOE your truck looks amazing. Got the wing idea from you. Thanks

joeling 11.16.2008 11:26 PM

Hi guys,

Some update. I have finally managed to run this truck yesterday. WOW, I really like it ! Handled pretty well & jumped good too ! The sway bar the Nanda shocks are doing their job. Even the MMM also stayed in 1 piece. Managed to crack the magnet of the rotor though.
