mmdooley, very nice truck, but do you really think its safe to run without bumpers?

mmdooley 02.15.2006 05:38 PM

I have not finished it yet. But I do have the FLM skids on the front and back will that not give me some protection??

Sylvester 02.15.2006 05:50 PM

well if you hit it hard enough, it will just bend and could damage a part.

mmdooley 02.15.2006 06:03 PM

What would be good bumpers for this setup??

squeeforever 02.15.2006 06:09 PM

stock. also, if it runs backwards the best thing to do is flip the diffs or reverse the tranny driection. most brushed motors wont like to run in reverse all the time.

mmdooley 02.15.2006 06:17 PM

It's the evx that's backward because the wheels roll forward at a slow speed. And when you push the throttle to reverse it will roll the wheels in reverse at very high speed. But I got it better than that. Right now the wheels roll forward at high speed but I am pushing the throttle in reverse.

Why is that squee? The only thing I can think of is if the brushes have been "broken in" in one direction.

mmdooley 02.15.2006 11:58 PM

Yall are losing me, I have the hybrids and as long as they are running in the same direction they are right, right???

Sneeck 02.16.2006 01:50 AM

The only thing that will limit the speed of the titans is the evx. It run's faster in forward than reverse, so flipping the diff's is a bad idea.(you are right that brushed motor's do run slower in reverse due to the brake in, but the evx is slower) Flipping the tranny would be a 3rd option, but the real problem is the radio setting's. Reverse channel 2 and adjust the trim, then re-set the evx. It should hold the setting's, if not there is something wrong.

Nice truck there! What servo will you use to turn those wheels??

The 8XL is a good choice, btw!

I hope you get it going soon.

Another thought: If you look at the brushes of the Titans, you can see why they have a prefered running direction.

mmdooley 02.16.2006 03:20 AM

Thanks I will check the titan's, I have a JR650M and it's working great (on the table) As soon as I get the throttle to work right I will tell you how it does on the ground. That's one reason why I wanted to run the titan's first, to see if the heavier chassis would need more steering servo. I also wanted to check drivetrain and wheel alignment etc... I think it will save parts and labor if I tweak the e-maxx before going bl Know what I mean. :027:

I wouldn't worry about trying to get the titans going right since you are going brushless. Unless you planning on running the titans for a good little spurt. That is just my opinion. If you get the titans to go in the right direction that is what matters. If you have to reverse the wires on the motors instead. The titans don't have timing so that is a plus.
