Well looky what turned up

I've been of the edge of the earth visiting my parents in the beef capital of Australia for the last week so I've only got to get it in the car and give it a quick spin.

Trying to go slow on it until I paint it but its so hard to take it easy! This is going to be one fun car to drive me thinks. Here's a quick crap vid of the first test run, nothing over 1/4 throttle… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PSMigLbkxrA

Just want to solder the ESC leads to the motor, paint it and its done :mdr:

It looks awesome :)

Still love those parts, it makes the car real clean and tidy!

Anxious to see what it will do full throttle.

I've run 2 packs through it so far and its a blast. Only onroad though at the moment. Trying not to kill the tires before I get it finished!

I didn't take into account tire ballooning when I did the gearing calculations as I didn't think it would matter. So from a top speed of 39.77 mph (63.88 km/h) @3.7 Volts/Cell which is what I aimed for, it goes to 58.38 mph (93.78 km/h) @ 4.2 Volts/Cell with ballooning! I don't think its going quite that fast but it gets along. I'll get someone to video it soon.

Its the first time I've balanced the wheels on it too and WOW! I put an unbalanced set on for the first test and it shook the car at 1/4 throttle. With the balanced wheels it'll sit solid on a stand at full throttle. Amazing difference.

I just ordered all the parts and will see how it works with the rc bro mount... i like the rcbro one cause it has 2 metal diff holders... ill have pics up when i get it...

I didn't use the stand-offs for the batter tray. I took it to work and drilled 3 holes on the corners. Despite not having the fourth corner tied down, it's pretty well secure.

Sorry to disappear! Been busy lately.

Anyway I've had this vid of the wheel balancing for ages and finally put it up on Youtube to share.

That's got me thinking now

anyone know if the $99 kits are still available?

Interesting, still can't find an official BL version of the CRT.5 from Hongnor or Jammin.
But Jamara, the German importer of Hongnor, offers a CRT 5 E.
Strange

1/12 CRT can't pick up that's scrt10 took over.

As far as I know hong nor won't produce a crt E.

It looks like they use scrt10 Ep parts to convert the CRT.5

JoFreak 11.15.2010 12:10 PM

I know, but normally they just distribute the Hongnor stuff, that's what puzzled me.
Slap a "Jamara" sticker on the box, put a different manual with different part numbers into the box (so you can't get the parts cheap and readily available from the US, at least that's their plan) and up the price by 50%.
