rear skid
2 Attachment(s)
I finished up a slick little matching race skid for the rear - a matching front skid and chassis extension are also in the works. :-)
|
Looks good Mike... Big improvement over the plastic chassis.
Now you just need to whip up front and rear bulks with the diff holes adjusted to fit a lst diff case, and the front nose adapter machined to fit the lst case as well. Just saying.... |
Looks nice and light!
And a titanium chassis plate with front kick up, all one piece. Since we are being forward. |
It won't be too long for a truggy-style chassis - 7075-T6 Aluminum, though (Titanium would be cost prohibitive).

Front skid is done(waiting for material to make a run, though). :-)

CHassis extension
3 Attachment(s)
Finished up the 35mm chassis extension last night. Hoping to finish the 50mm version today and get them post posted to the site and available for sale. The good news is that I was able to devise a relatively simple and modular design that allows for a super light weight, strong, and attractive design that complements the V-Maxx chassis nicely - and fit any Maxx that uses standard skids and bulks. I will likely also make a few skids to accept the UE VBS system as well, as I know the Maxx purists and collectors appreciate compatibility with the high end parts.
The 35mm extension adds less than 2oz to the weight of the truck! By utilizing a modular skid-based design, the penalty for severe use is mitigated - after bashing to your heart's content, the skid will be the only real wear item, which will be available separately for under $20! |
installed pictures

Some pics of the prototype installed onto a V-Maxx chassis. I tested the UE Lightning and stock chassis as well(fits either, though stock chassis needs minor dremel work to clear the top plate - not likely to see many stock chassis, though)

Looks good!
How about the center axle? Doesnt that has to be longer to? |
Yes, a longer center shaft is needed. Although not verified at the moment, a stock cvd bone from the front/rear diff-to-wheel should be the correct length for the 35mm extended version. :-)
|
Dang Mike, I cant buy this stuff as fast as your making it.
|
@ Buzzaw46 you are so rigth.
@ Mike you are so fast and every single Part looks so nice! I can't wait to get them. Will you make Center Dogbones or CVD's? |
I have the Chassis, braces, center skid, and diff mount already and they look amazing! I have the LP Shock towers, front/rear skids, and a new set of FLM hybrids on order, and I'm sure Mike will have quick change hybrids soon enough, LOL!
I got together with my painter today to practice some new techniques for the body I picked for this beast. It's going to be amazing! |
Here is what we ended up with today, the photos don't do it justice!http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/l...pstqzbqvra.jpg
