I decided to make the 50mm version a little different than initially planned - should have them done in a few days. Same idea, but tweaked. :-)
Body painting is definitely not a strength of mine - I lack the patience needed to be good at it - fortunately, I have some friends that can paint if I want something nicer than a one-color-wonder for bashing. |
For the 50mm length, what body is that putting the maxx under?
I presume you can use the stock chassis braces or the aluminum correct? I'm getting really tempted to sneak in an order for this Maxx chassis with the center diff. |
The ERevo body is sized nicely for the 35mm extension - for the 50mm extension, I'm thinking Savage XL.

Need some pics of your completed setup

Coming together nicely! Thanks Mike, You The Man!

Truck is looking sweet!

Dang it, with all these topics, I want a maxx to :)
Nice car Buzzsaw! |
Thanks guys! Mike and I have flipped my painter to. He was always a bit of a Maxx hater, but the clean center diff mount and LCG RCM chassis has him drooling, and considering a monster truck build.
I cant wait to drive this thing. Hope to have the rest of the parts this week! |
Hi guys new here from Denmark.. Am also building a RCM Maxx so thought I should chime in..loving your build Buzzsaw ..question lenghth of your dogbones/ diff cups??
Pics of my build soon.. Kristian |
I used Associated #89575 82mm (front) Associated #89576 108mm (rear) dogbones. RCM slipperential with Traxxas 6mm drive cups in the center and Mugen MBX7T diffs with UE 5mm drive cups on the pinions. That setup gets me about 2-3mm of end play on each bone.
|
May I ask why you use two different sizes cups?
Don't you have a lot of play in the 5mm cup? Or is the 5mm the bore size Wich slides over the pinion? |
Correct its just the difference between pinion and diff gear size.
|
Thanks for the Info Buzzsaw..very Nice build..Think i am going with the 350mm extension so have to mockup when i get the parts from Mike..guess its going to be a bit "suck it and see" ;-)
|
The front won't change - just add 35mm to the rear with the extension. Basically, you will need around 85mm up front and 145mm out back - could go 88mm up front and 142mm out back with the adjustment available on the skid. These are ball park numbers, based on the Slipperential diff - some diffs are slightly larger or smaller, but using the 85/145 sizes you should fit most 1/8 diffs out there.

Thanks Mike.. Next question..anyone know a good brand with 145mm dogbones?? Thanks in advance.. K.
