I haven't done anything with Maxx trucks in quite some time.

Darn you Mike, I may have to build another one!

RC-Monster Mike 07.22.2015 10:59 PM

I read that Alza Racing has a stainless 142mm bone that works well on a 35mm extended V-Maxx. :-)

DarkSammy 07.23.2015 01:06 AM

ALZA make very beefy parts too, so it should be indestructible...

50mm extension done

Thanks for the Info.. HPI do dogbones that fit for the Savage XL but they are 8mm .. Can they fit (somehow) the Slipperential drivecups or are we waaay out?? Can get them locally and cheap ...

RC-Monster Mike 07.23.2015 03:50 PM

The Slipperential drive cups are sized for 8mm balls on the bone end - pretty standard 1/8 size, so any bone with an 8mm ball end will fit the cup. Last I checked, the Savage shafts used larger balls(9mm and 11mm on the xl?) on their shafts, so not a direct fit. I don't own a Savage, so don't hold me to it. ;-)

Mike, thought about packaging up the chassis, skids, and universal center diff together as a package deal?

RC-Monster Mike 07.24.2015 01:03 PM

I did bundle some of the items together in the V-Maxx listing but I haven't added some of the newest items - adding a package to include the center diff mount is a good idea.

Great Info thanks... Alza Racing it is.. Just scored a Savox 1256tg and a JConcepts Illuzion Revo body for the build so just need those darn dogbones..

Are you going to make braces?

Is the plan to use flm hybrid bulks or will you make your own?

RC-Monster Mike 07.25.2015 12:41 PM

Braces are already bundled with the chassis - using FLM hybrids(or UE) for now - haven't decided if I will do a Hybrid bulk...most likely will do a diff case.

I had to give up on the Mugen Diffs I was unable to overcome the short drive cups. So I ordered up another set of Ofna Hyper 7 diffs and installed a HB #109840 4.3:1 ring and pinion in the rear hybrid got it all shimmed up and it feels like butter. Unfortunately my front ring and pinion wont be in till Monday.

I buttoned up the rear end, she is loc-tited and ready for battle.

If you replace the diff out-drives with the diff shafts that came with the hybrids, you can use the drive cups included with the cvds.

Buzzsaw46 07.25.2015 10:21 PM

The mugen diffs have a 5mm output shaft rather than the 6mm of typical 1/8 scale diffs. I found some Ofna 5mm diff shafts but the cross pin hole was 2mm rather than 2.23mm. So I tried 133mm HB D8t dog bones and the ball end is about .4mm too large for the traxxas axle. I should have quit at that point but I tried Losi 8T 2.0 bones and same as the HB too large on the ball end.

The solution was Hyper 7 diffs with HB ring and pinion and the diff shafts in the hybrid kit, along with the stock traxxas drive cups I have the rear end all buttoned up.

I was just hoping to be able to run 8s packs and still keep speeds in check with the 1717. As it is with 4.3:1 diffs the slowest I could gear for on 8s is about 60mph.

RC-Monster Mike 07.26.2015 10:17 AM

8s on an EMaxx puts you well into the clinical definition of INSANE!! I suggest a chassis extension(maybe the 50mm for this power house).
