I did email Austin about the first order. If I recall, it took over 10 days to get it. He said that they've been behind since Christmas, but are working to catch up. I suppose that they are still running behind. Although I would have liked my order to have been shipped quicker, I really didn't mean my statement to be interpreted as a complaint. I do have to admit that I opted for the optional 12 gauge wire, so I'd imagine that I would have gotten my order more quickly if I had ordered the packs with the standard wiring. The guys at Maxamps have been first rate to deal with and their product is great for the price.

OK, I just had to revive this thread. I'm turning blue waiting for Castle to release a fix for the MM/Neu issue, so it's looking like it's going to be a Lehner. Since the Lehner's run cooler and more efficiently, I belive that a Lehner 1940/8 will run similarly to a Feigao 7XL. Am I correct in this assumption?
I was more than happy with my Feigaos, I have four now, but an email from Mike got me thinking again. If I didn't misunderstand him, the Lehner will run MUCH cooler. Not just a few degrees, but significantly cooler. Summer is getting ready to hit down in the swamp land and I'm starting to wonder if the Feigao will be able to stand a 30 minute main. Anyway, what do you guys (Lehner oweners) think about the 1940/8? Will it perform similarly to the Feigao 7XL? Thanks. |

AAngel, you run a 7xl with MM in a 1/8th buggy on 4s? What kind of temps you getting? I wanna do that soon (lehner later), buggy is in the mail.

I'm running a 14/46 gearing and 12v fans (straight off of the 4S pack) on both the esc and motor. They've never gotten hot enough to cause me to grab the temp gun, so I really can't say. I run the heck out of the setup on the track too.
If I had it to do again, I think that I would have gone with an 8XL. The 7XL is almost too much for a track or even bashing. I rarely get to full throttle and when I do, it isn't for long enough for the buggy to reach top speed. I'd go with the 8XL for even lower temps and better runtimes. |
AAngel, I to am from Lousiana. I live in Baton Rouge. What track to you go to? I use to go to KKR, but haven't been able to make it lately. I think they renamed it to something else now though.

I usually run at the track in St. Charles. It is maintained by St. Charles Racers club and is a decent track. I've looked into going out of town to run, but it looks like no one will let me, although I've never been to the track in Baton Rouge.

What track in Baton Rouge? Krazy Kajun Raceway (KKR, now something else) will let you run.

The only Lehner I have seen is a 1940/7 in a E-maxx on 12 cells nimh, and it runs much cooler than the 7XL in my E-maxx, not than mine gets super hot though. So yeah, from what I've seen the Lehner hardly even gets warm.

I'm going to have to check that out. I'm not a big racer. I "bash" on our local track and have raced on occassion, but do like to keep my buggy (and now truggy) in race form. It is, after all, the best way to get around the track. I don't race much because our races take place on Sundays and for me, that's my day with my son when we don't have anything else to do, and that's more important than racing. What discouraged me from going out of town is that when I meet people at our track from out of town, they usually don't have nice comments to make about my setup. The last thing I need is to go through the time and expense of making a trip only to find out that I can't run. Patrick, did that lehner that you saw have a heatsink or fan on it? I have to run both to make sure that my motor doesn't get to hot on long runs. |
It has a rc-monster heatsink (I think it's an L size-it doesn't cover the whole motor), no fan, in an all aluminium car. It's maxd out's e-maxx.
Our races are fairly short, but I think it would still keep quite cool in a longer race (compared to my 7XL anyway). |
