The "ring" is just a little aluminum disc to preload the servo saver spring. The stock servo saver is pretty decent once you add some force to the spring(steering is very loose/sloppy otherwise).
|
Ah, good upgrade then!
|
The servo saver ring is a very nice upgrade! I ran my first pack through the beast at work on asphalt and had a couple times where the stiffer steering probably kept me rubber side down.
Pretty happy with it need to make some tuning adjustments, center diff is too stiff, shocks too soft, slipper might be a touch tight, bla bla bla. Typical new truck issues. The power system seems to be the stuff, I'm geared for about 46-48mph, it definitely has more torque than my old truck, and it's running 50F cooler. Only 115F after a bash through our needs mowing lawn. I'm going to bump up a tooth on the pinion for the next run. Already tweaked my shocks a bit, we'll see. |
Been tuning and abusing this thing everyday since I finished it up. I have it working freaking awesome, and she has absorbed some punishment! I fell in love when I first saw the pictures of this setup and it did not disappoint. I have to keep a towel handy when I have it on display at the hobby shop I work at, Yep, drool puddles :intello:
I cant wait to see the truggy chassis, and I would love to see what the Monster factory can come up with for bulks and diff cases. (hint) Thinking it would be nice if the diffs were easier to service (/hint) 50+ screws for a front and rear diff rebuild is a bit excessive. |
Dogbone
Hi again..so Got a lovely package from Mike today so full steam ahead..:yipi:
One last thing I Need help with ..front dogbone 88mm in length anyone?? Can only find 1/10 scale and thats no good  Thanks Kristian |
88mm pin to pin, or end to end?
|
I am going off of Mike's measurements and have the Alza Racing 142mm rear bone and that is pin to pin so I think 88mm pin to pin Buzzsaw...had hoped to have it mockedup today so I could measure but the little folk did not agree :-(
Very frustrating to have a workbench full of goodies and no time to play..maybe later tonight when the wee angels are out cold!!! |
I used Associated #89575 82mm in the front and wish it was a touch shorter, it measures 89mm end to end. Hope that helps.
|
Yes thanks Buzzsaw.. Gonna order that and see...my back bone is a little shorter than yours so fingres crossed :-)
|
You are going to love it when you get her done, I have been just thrashing mine and it's an animal.
|
Yessir ...ordered the Associated dogbones just have to wait for them to land here in DK! Major busy at work again so will probably be a while before I have it built..:-( still patience is a virtue right?
|
If it a bit to long end to end, can't you dremel a little bit off the ends?
Just a mm total? |

Sooooo.. Progress on my build..still waiting on front dogbone as unfortunately the Associated one was just a hair too short :oh:
Going with RPM bulks and stock diffs for the moment due to budgetary constraints (she who must be obeyed :whip: ) Should be ok as plan to start with 4s while I get to know the beast.. Had to put her in roller just to see those Big Joe 2 badboys :gasp: |
