Tomato's E

Hey Guys,

Here it is so far. I just got some greendot foams to make the most of the street out front. There's got to be some lost speed in ballooning tires! Now I gotta savew and get a better brushless.

Nice! You do need a better brushless system :) I don't think I have ever seen Maxx foams actually mounted before!

tomato 08.17.2005 02:38 PM

Imex makes them. I was hoping the lack of vibration would due it some good. Aside most of the other tires seems to be off road based and my yard seems to tear up the light weight tires fast. I'll use the foams to check it out on full speed runs and the stocker for bashing it up! I'll retire the HVMAXX in my son's rc10t2. It's got a titan and EVX in it now and it's very fast. I can't keep it straight enough to get it up to full speed yet. I need to slow the steering rate down. I'll let everyone know about the foams. I don't know what to expect. They are a little skinny though.

Dafni 08.17.2005 03:43 PM

They are skinny, but this also helps steering response.

The 40 series Roadrage is also a good onroad tire. To bad nobody makes good 40 rims.

proline makes the best 40 serie rims! the 23 mm adaptor sized types.. the dish version, cheyenne, and the spoke 40 serie. All with the 23 mm adaptor..

I tried foams but could never get them to hook. Anything over half throttle and it would 360. But you could have better luck with them.

Thank you,
Promod

That doesn't sound very promising:W: We'll find out in a few more hours.

I rigged up some carbide balls in the spur/slipper. I wonder what's going to melt first?

Serum 08.17.2005 05:10 PM

I guess the foam is too hard then..Though Promod is not a reference.. He normally uses 5KW+ systems in a 10 lbs maxx...

Your using a Novak, you could use the normal slipper thingys..

tomato 08.17.2005 05:22 PM

What ever those peg things are they certainly don't work. Your lucky if they last one set of batteries.

Dafni 08.17.2005 05:27 PM

Then you prolly had the slipper too loose. Also, try 12 pegs instead of 6.

Stock spur and slipper actually works fine for me, for as long as you don't allow too much slippage (or any at all:C: ) Thing get's hot.

Serum, I don't know about the 23mm wheels. But the PL 40 standard wheels were a big dissapointment for me. They beginn to wobble after a while.

tomato 08.17.2005 05:36 PM

Uhggg. I got the standard result. Went about 4 feet and busted something in the tranny. Makes me want to get a Jato....
Now to take it all apart again....I'm tired of wrenching on it. I want to drive it. What part do you suppose I broke this time?

Dafni 08.17.2005 05:44 PM

You're still on stock idlers?

Sorry to hear about your bad luck.

tomato 08.17.2005 05:45 PM

No. I got the UE's

tomato 08.17.2005 06:14 PM

LMAO. Well The GMAXX chassis lends itself nicely to removing the tranny. I just wish I would have wiggle the gear shift before I took it out!Seems I may have been stuck between gears.

tomato 08.17.2005 06:57 PM

Well I just got back in from the outside and it was a blast. You can actuatly turn on a dime with the foams. The green dots seemed to be a good choice. No real slippage. You can powerslide through the turns. I used improper gearing with a fan and it ran coolish. About 120. I don't think that to hot is it? I can't wait to see this thing with another motor in it.

RC-Monster Mike 08.17.2005 08:06 PM

120 isn't hot at all. Nice truck, tomato!

tomato 08.17.2005 08:30 PM

Good, because now I'm going to get it hot and run some bigger pinions. What would you think is the hottest I should let it get?

RC-Monster Mike 08.17.2005 09:26 PM

keep it below 180 or so and you will be fine.

rchippie 08.17.2005 10:08 PM

Hi Rob

If you clean your foams with reguler gojo or orange gojo( none gritty) hand cleaner. You will get better traction. We have used this for years in oval racing. Just rub it in real good & then wipe it off real good thaTS IT. If you have any ? you have my #.

Hello Promod,
What kind of tires did you end up using to get it to hook up?
I have that same problem with my dual BL Maxx. I have a spool in the rear right now and I am going to take that out because I think that will help it to track straighter under acceleration.
Thanks.

RC-Monster Mike 08.19.2005 06:21 AM

Lose the spool for sure, Johnny. Any small diameter difference between the tires will cause it to pull to the opposite side. A diff is what you need to keep it straight(and a strong steering servo with a stiff servo saver).

Promod 08.20.2005 08:06 AM

Mike's right loose the spool. Any on-road tire works great. Also have good luck with bowties, paqman, and nubz.

Thank you,
Promod
