Well heres what you get for combining a Hacker Master ESC, FlightPower 5s, Feigao 8xl with a rustler...

Enjoy- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=emDnnbfJEGc

Nice dude.. that's a lot of motor for that little thing... Good Job...

Takedown 03.22.2008 11:48 PM

It sure is! Its around 2-2.5 HP in that thing. Im very happy with the speed so far. Im looking forward to gear up.

aqwut 03.23.2008 03:16 AM

I wouldn't gear up unless you where doing a speed run.... I'm surprise ur drive train is still intact... mine didn't last very long..

chilledoutuk 03.23.2008 05:26 AM

luckily the 1st gen hackers have lame startup routines otherwise on that sort of power your drivetrain would shit a brick.

On another note i wonder why you have taking the sides of your rustlers chassis away as that surely will reduce the chassis torsional stiffness and strength making the chance of the chassis breaking or bending and damaging your battery much higher.

brushlessboy16 03.23.2008 09:59 AM

i say swap the pinion for a larger one, belt the tires and go for 80

Takedown 03.23.2008 11:08 AM

Im using a VXL Tranny so Im fine... I customized the chassis to lose a little weight and to cut down on the draft under the chassis to keep it on all 4's. The chassis is still very strong. I dont notice any flexing.

lincpimp 03.23.2008 11:27 AM

I am glad that the hacker esc is working well on 5s. I had a feeling that if you disabled the internal bec, and did not load the motor too much it would be fine. Not sure if a rustler would ever be able to really load an 8xl though! Looks like fun, thanks for the vid!

lutach 03.23.2008 12:45 PM

I'm very surprised. I swear the Hacker car controllers only handled 3S lipos. I have a Master Car Race and I might give it some thought.

I say go for it! My hacker hasnt even gotten a little warm yet either. It always ran at about 50 degrees and its around 45 degrees outside. It seems as if its no problem for it.

I sure hope that the 64-63 size outrunner with the 53/30 size stator isnt going to be to much for it to handle. I doubt it will but you never know. If anything does go wrong Im headed straight for the MMM ESC.

satttheman 03.23.2008 07:05 PM

nice truck i want to see more speed

Takedown 03.23.2008 07:23 PM

I do to, but im trying to make a design for a front wing that doesnt reduce speed dramatically but yet be able to keep the front wheels planted at high speeds.

Takedown 03.23.2008 07:27 PM

By the way I broke my first part which was an output yoke (not surprising). Also here is pic of the 32p setup and the damaged part.

suicideneil 03.23.2008 09:49 PM

Nicely done. I know traxxas sells metal output yolks, so you could try them, or cvds, or 3.3spec shafts....

Power is addictive isnt it? :D

Takedown 03.23.2008 09:59 PM

Why yes it is! Has anyone done the 3.3 driveshaft mod? I thought of that awhile back but thats just ridiculous... I would like to stick with getting jato shafts.

jayjay283 03.23.2008 10:47 PM

lol ill try to stick some on tomorrow i have 3 rustys a stampede and an emaxx and 1/2 in pieces all over my family room (wife loves me) not! hey spring is here gotta get em ready...sweet rusty !

DwightSchrute 03.23.2008 11:47 PM

I run 3 different drag rustys, and each of them use a different setup....

one has the HPI dogbone setup, one has the MIP cvds and one has the traxxas steel yokes.....all of them work really well....i just found that running with a 4s, there's no way to keep the stock stub axles and yokes from getting shredded.

nice setup Takedown......how is the gearing for the hacker motors? it looks like you're geared really low for high speed runs....for me to get around the 80mph mark i gotta run like this:

http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/g...t/HPIM3820.jpg

60 spur/40pinion

Takedown 03.23.2008 11:58 PM

Im geared super low right now... Im not running a hacker motor. Im running a Hacker ESC with a feigao 8xl motor. Im gonna gear alot higher here soon. Just gotta find the right driveshafts. Most likely jato...

Takedown 03.24.2008 10:59 AM

Ill be picking up the rc10gt 60t spur here soon. I have a rc10gt 66t spur on right now and a 19t 5mm pinion. I will also be picking up a RCM 24t 32p 5mm pinion.

Spur- http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXS396&P=7
Pinion- http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail...nion5mm&cat=40

Ok this may seem a little funny but I got my prototype front downforce wing on and it looks somewhat promising. I wont be able to test it until tommoro when I get my new yokes but let me know what you guys think...

snellemin 03.25.2008 05:17 PM

If you pic the right body and lay it out properly, you will only need a rear wing for downforce and keep it tracking straight. The peeps that dragrace rustlers in San Antonio, don't use any front wings.

I know I've seen someone do something like that . Oh my here it is  http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/show...00&postcount=8. Mine lived for only one run though. Looks good. Do you think the controller can handles 6S lipo?

Takedown 03.25.2008 08:15 PM

Most definately! The Master is running cold on 5s with the rustler with the 8xl. I think it'll do fine.

Takedown 03.25.2008 08:19 PM

Im gonna try out the VXL output yokes to. They look much stronger...

If you have spare time, could you try it?

trev3813 03.26.2008 08:26 PM

Very nice rustler Takedown. I think if you got a body, maybe it would stay on the ground. (yeah right lol)
