This is just a FYI on 8s
 

I found the week link on my GEVO, the akillies heal so to speak, it’s 8s..

Ever since I started to run this truck on 8s something always brakes (guaranteed) and for the last two outings it was same fricken part my (1/8 diff output shafts) last time it was the rear end, now it the front end and bent my axel. This thing just rips these output shafts in no time. That’s it putting it together again and then I wont drive it until Sunday @ our So-Cal bash, I’ll let someone else brake it for a change..

By the way you’re all invited and just a (FYI) jnev has volunteered to provide and pass out the thank you bags to everyone who shows up!.. Each bag will contain several weights of shock and diff oil along with Traxxas and dean connectors, followed up with a small bag containing misc pinion gear. Way to go Josh… He’s such a giver!.. :party::lol::rofl:

How are you running 8S with a CC bec.
The CC bec is only rated for 6S

Hey Shaun, You may want to go back to the slider driveshafts, they may flex a bit and save the outputs on the diff. Or they may break, but still easier to change...

That was an easy one to overcome :yes:

I simply cut my BEC wires installed a male and female connectors and ran a lead off one of my 4s, I just simple plug and play with it..

What diff output shafts are you using? What diff oil weight are you using? Are you running it in a place where there are some small stones that might get wedged between the arms and shafts. That was the only time I broke an axle shaft in one of my trucks.

Anyhow, I'm using the 1/8 scale one’s Mike sells so you know it not that, I’ve got 7k in the front and 5k in the rear, this combo works great on 4s, 6s, and I think 8s?? it really hard to tell the tires are spinning so fast and the car is just about uncontrollable at speeds or it my driving “lack of driving skills” I'm hoping the boys at the bash on Sunday will be able to confirm either or.. :yes:

As for driving conditions it an off road truck I beat it everywhere I can find some dirt, hills, soccer fields, etc, it’s been at the local track now at least 4 times so nothing has changed their again 4 / 6s = no issues at all. I just think it’s the week link, everything has it and this in my GEVO’s week link = 8s.:oh:

Curious - How are you finding bashing with those RPM front arms.

Mine are so flexible I keep bending my Traxxas steel cvds - Even had one pop out at the weekend. I've given up on them now and have gone back to Traxxas arms...

PS a lighter tire combo might help with shearing shafts...

Shaun, I'm done with my build ... for now :lol:. I had been beating the crap out of it and so far, I had been lucky except for a broken tranny output shaft.

It looks like a stress fracture on the diff output shaft's hole where it has the least amount of material which leads me to my hunch that either the axle was "forced" to rotate, very tight slipper, you had been mashing on the throttle or a combination of any of the three :intello:.

Anyway, using plastic drive shafts will help since it will twist the shaft first before it breaks the diff output shaft. The diff output shaft that comes with the hybrid revo diffs looks like a cut up version of the stock revo diff outputs. I made some of those by cutting the stock outputs (Tmaxx/emaxx).

You can make your own if you have a dremel or a saw.

i still cant figure out how your using those cvds on rpm arms. when i had it they would just pop off cause the rpm arms would flex so much.

but yah i agree with lincpimp. go back to stock.

No prob, people seem to have issues with the rpm arms flexing and breaking cvds too. I have had great success with the sliders myself, and see no reason to change to cvds.

Where I come from the term "party bags" means something completely different... They were my main reason for going out to clubs and bars when I was younger. Come to think of it, they are still the main reason I go out to clubs and bars (and sometimes the supermarket too, they can be anywhere, except the lhs!)

They usually pop out once every 4th or 5th bash, but I’m just popping them back in on the spot :oops: :oh:(a minor convenience at best) I know that if I stick on Traxxas or stiffer one's on I’ll do some serious damage, so I’ll stick with my RPM with no regrets at.. :yes:

I like my tire combo, Neil's keeping his huge (but rather cool looking) monster tires, I’m keeping mine :na:
