12020 Question

There is a lot of wires coming off of this thing, 6 blue ones and two black and two red. could someone tell me what to do with all these and where to solder them?

Dafni 10.31.2005 03:54 PM

Just treat the pairs as if they were one wire!
You'll get 3 motor wire pairs, and a black pair and a red pair.

I take it you have some experience with BL, so I wont type the whole story. But feel free to ask if you get a problem.

toby 10.31.2005 03:55 PM

actually i have NO experience with BL just my mamba. what are th eblue wires for?

squeeforever 10.31.2005 04:02 PM

the blue wires go to the motor. there is 6 and there in pairs. just solder the female connectors to the motor wires and the male connectors to the blue wires.

theres a picture of mine all wired up.

toby 10.31.2005 04:08 PM

can you send me a full size pic to vwghiadude@Hotmail.com

Dafni 10.31.2005 04:11 PM

Just wire each pair of bleu wires to a motor lead. Order is not relevant.

And wire your cells between the Black and Red pair. If you use 2 packs, wire in a way so that all cells are in series.

toby 10.31.2005 04:13 PM

ok, how come it is two wires to each motor lead?

toby 10.31.2005 04:26 PM

i know how to wire it all now. next step is BATTERIES. Yay

nbcaznmaster 10.31.2005 04:47 PM

lol! u jumped into a 12020 without a 9920 first! lol, have fun bro!

toby 10.31.2005 05:23 PM

I will, i am trying to find a spot to momunt the ESC right now though, it is kind of hard

i might need to mount it on the outside of the TVP for now, there is NO room at all,

squeeforever 10.31.2005 05:25 PM

here this picture might help with the wiring.

Dafni 10.31.2005 05:39 PM

toby, I would keep the ESC on the inside of the TVPs. Or when you want to put it on the outside, make a cover.

Did you get a warrior or micro, btw?

toby 10.31.2005 06:07 PM

warrior, i cannot find any room for it on the inside, so i dunno where to mount it

Does the 9920 have 6 wires like that? Where they need to be paired for the motor? If so I need more connectors! Might just direct solder them...

toby 10.31.2005 06:14 PM

i am going to direct solder them to the motr, can i cut the blue wires down a bit?

Dafni 10.31.2005 06:17 PM

Yes, you can shorten the blue wires, no problem. But leave the motor wires as they are.

yes, the 9920 has 6 blue wires. all you do is solder the pair into one connector. so all your gonna need is 3 male and 3 female.

toby 10.31.2005 06:24 PM

i was just going to direct solder two wires to one motor lead. and then the next two to another etc.

squeeforever 10.31.2005 06:38 PM

i would suggest using connectors.

toby 10.31.2005 06:52 PM

like deans? and if so how do you solder one dean to one wire?

squeeforever 10.31.2005 06:56 PM

no, i would use 3.5mm connectors. http://www.rc-monster.com/products.php?cat=21&pg=2

i would use deans on the batteries.

toby 10.31.2005 06:58 PM

i have NO time to order it, so i guess direct solder is my only choice

Nick 10.31.2005 07:12 PM

Same here, I have bullet connectors but I don't think I can fit 2 wires in one, unless I solder one wire further down the other? Best to direct solder?

toby 10.31.2005 07:14 PM

Mike told me to direct solder

squeeforever 10.31.2005 07:51 PM

actually the dual wires fit quite easily. i didnt have any trouble.

mothman 11.01.2005 02:25 AM

Toby where did you get the 12020? are they warrior or micro??

nbcaznmaster 11.01.2005 07:13 AM

Mike sells them here of course!

mothman 11.01.2005 07:44 AM

Can you let Toby answer the questions? I just want to know whether he got the Warrior 12020 from Mike or from somewhere else.

toby 11.01.2005 08:25 AM

i got it from here and it is warrior

mothman 11.01.2005 09:03 PM

I thought they are out of stock..I want the warrior tooo... :( Mike, when are they going to be available again??

RC-Monster Mike 11.01.2005 10:47 PM

The warriors(9920 and 12020) should both be back in stock(with Plenty) within a couple weeks.
The 9920 controllers usually have only one set of wires(thick), but some have had two sets. the recent ones had one set, though(Nick). The 120 amp and larger controllers have the double wire.

mothman 11.01.2005 11:42 PM

So do you mean that I missed the 1st shipment :(?? Ive signed up for the notice but didnt get any msg from rc-monster.com. So Mike can you put me on the list for the next shipment?? Not going to miss them again.

By the way do you have the Wanderer in stock?? If not are they going to come with the Warrior?

RC-Monster Mike 11.02.2005 01:12 AM

Wanderers will be along with the warriors. If you recently signed up for notification, you haven't missed anything. The 9920s, 12020s, and a few wanderer motors will be along soon. I should have enough to go around this time!

toby 11.02.2005 07:46 PM

okay, i need a straight answer, no beating around the bush.

Those blue wires, first

why is there two to each wire lead.
does it matter which two go to which motor lead?

coolhandcountry 11.02.2005 08:03 PM

it matters to a point. If you keep the wires in pairs like coming out the esc you fine. That should give you the sets to connect to the three wires of motor. that part does not matter fat as which set to each wire of motor.

toby 11.02.2005 08:04 PM

so as long as the blue wires stay in the pairs they are they can go to any lead? i am still trying to find somewhere to mount this thing

coolhandcountry 11.02.2005 08:12 PM

yeah toby. If the motor spins backwards to the way you need it. Swap two of the three wires and it will be right.

toby 11.02.2005 08:45 PM

umm, i am direct soldering though, kind of a difficult thing to do, there is no way to do it right the first tiem? and how would i know which wires to swap?

coolhandcountry 11.02.2005 09:30 PM

Any two wire of the three will work. It does not matter.

squeeforever 11.02.2005 09:55 PM

also, if your direct soldiering you can always do it another way. all you have to do is have the batteries plugged in and pull the red programming jumper off and then if it beeps that is telling you that it is switched directions. then just put it back on.
