Testing a New Type of Motor

Ok guys I talked it over with brianG and hopefully the thread wont get deleted this time. I will be testing some motors coming up soon. As I had said before. Here are the specs, notice somethings have been changed.

Specs

Size- 44mm x 73mm
KV Rating- 1500 to 2100.
Poles- HQ 2-pole
Internal Resistance- To be determined...

Features

Kevlar wrapped rotor, rotor will be reinforced with dual supports on lower and upper shaft, shimmed rotor, 100k rpm ceramic bearings, finished bonded rotor, 12awg low resistance wires, 5.5mm plugs, motor will be all jet black color including black wires, will be finned can, HQ 2-pole design, removable rear endbell, will be rebuildable, high strength neodymium rotor with a rating of n38-n45, high quality windings which offer super low resistance.

The company has shipped out the cans and endbells along with the shaft. We are still looking to order the neodymium magnet and outer can magnets along with the windings and high quality bearings. Once some of the stuff arrives, I will post pics threwout the motor's build.

N50! N50!!!

Sounds really cool. I will be keeping an eye on this thread. Can you build me a 550-size motor that will survive at 100K rpm? Maybe use a titanium braid-wrapped rotor?

I was looking at the highest quality Neo but I think Ill stick around with what neu, lehner and hacker use which is around the n40ish range if I remember correctly. And for right now I am not building motors for anyone. Trying atleast get mine done.

What's_nitro? 12.31.2008 07:13 PM

Ehhh, I do recall that the "weaker" grades of NdFeB can take more heat. So I guess that's OK. :mdr:

traxxasbasher13 12.31.2008 09:04 PM

Sounds cool. I will be watching.

Pedebeater 12.31.2008 10:32 PM

I think you forgot that you have a partner here...:intello: That'd be me! No lie either, we're doing this together, thug. This should be an exciting experiment, and hopefully turns out good.

hemiblas 01.01.2009 12:18 AM

I thought I was dreaming last night as I was reading about this great new motor you guys are working on and then poof it was gone. I will watch this one to see how it goes. Sounds pretty cool.

As long as this thread is basically an "R&D" type of thread, I don't think the power that be will mind. But I would strongly advise to avoid making this thread seem like it will even possibly become a sales item. And it would be bad form to get all kinds of feedback/suggestions/etc here and then go elsewhere to sell them.

If this thread disappears again, it will most likely be the Monster that did it and would refrain from starting another one.

That said, it will be interesting to see what kind of results you get (and maybe how many ESCs burn out testing them )

Pedebeater 01.01.2009 12:57 AM

Hopefully none... lol

Haha, were hopefully going to avoid that alltoghther.

Just to let you guys know. Our first couple motors that we will be testing will be 2-pole just to see how far that will get us.

_paralyzed_ 01.01.2009 02:08 AM

I'm curious, are you doing this to save money, to make a more powerful motor, or just to do it? Either way I will appreciate what I learn. Lotsa pics please!

Were doing it because were curious what a 2-pole of this kind of build will be capable of. Yes pics will be posted threwout the build.

_paralyzed_ 01.01.2009 02:18 AM

pretty ambitious, I have a hard enough time keeping my r/c's in one piece

pedeboi364 01.01.2009 09:15 AM

sounds cool. maybe u guys can supply me with a motor, lincpimp can give me and ESC and i can do a T-maxx conversion!!

suicideneil 01.01.2009 12:07 PM

Q. Does this company sell complete motors of various specs, or are you just buying the parts to build your own motors like you can with some outrunners (kit form) for experimentation's sake?

Takedown 01.01.2009 01:04 PM

Were are not selling motors.

pedeboi364 01.01.2009 01:14 PM

...i said give, not buy lol. i could be ur lab rat

Takedown 01.01.2009 05:58 PM

Lmao, That could be our added bonus!:party:

Pedebeater 01.01.2009 06:00 PM

People will know for sure where our motors are coming from that way! include a free slice of cheese and free bottle of beer.

Takedown 01.01.2009 06:04 PM

neil's gonna kill me....

pedeboi364 01.02.2009 07:54 AM

o man that funny!!! Anyways, ya, i could your 'factory driver' and for lincpimp also. u send me the electronics and i help test and work out the bugs

suicideneil 01.02.2009 12:41 PM

You got my D.O.B wrong, and my weight....

pedeboi364 01.02.2009 02:02 PM

Its a pic of suicideneil.

I never changed the info on the I.D. when I pasted his pic on there.

oh well......its still funny

Takedown 01.02.2009 04:33 PM

OK guys Ive got some possible good news. We ended up having a discussion with the guy who is making the can, endbells and rotor for us. He is willing to make us some larger cans aswell. We are thinking 8mm shafts, 60mm in width, 120mm in length with a 35mm x 80mm neodym magnet. Wouldnt know what kv's to choose yet though.

Takedown 01.02.2009 04:37 PM

I am not making any guarentees though...

pedeboi364 01.02.2009 04:43 PM

hot sex that'd push a Maxx around

Takedown 01.02.2009 05:15 PM

Haha, it would destroy anything smaller than a 1/5.

pedeboi364 01.02.2009 05:49 PM

...IM DOWN!!!! lol

Takedown 01.02.2009 05:55 PM

Calm down!
