My new addition to the barn!

Hello my friends,

Thought I would share some pics of the new addition :mdr:

She is a RC8 Factory Team edition with a Mamba Monster 2200kv combo running a zippy 25-35c 4000mah 6s... As you can see I am running the blast-phaltline combo and have a custom proline shift body in the works to complete the truggification process :yipi:

This is my first big scale that has gotten to the piont of running and I must say I am impressed with this rig.... Makes a hell of a pavement pounder IMO. I have a few small mods in the works but for the most part she will remain pretty stock other then a few suspension tweaks and drop. So far I have increased the center diff to 60k and the front and rears to 10k oils but still having some powertransfer issues... Nothing big with the new oils but i think i may need to move to 100k in the center... Anyone have any suggestions? I run strictly on pavement and still have a slight amount of power transfer to the front... Very small though. I feel as if I could use a lift in the front and rear oils as well but i dont want to lose to much steering and I feel like there has been a large effect already as far as that goes. I have always run spools or locked diffs in the front to aid in on power steering so i am thinking I may keep the rears as is but move the front up to 25-50k after moving up the center... Any opinions on this?

thanks for the help and hope you like her :great: I'll post up some udates as she grows....

Health! didn't know you posted here! Looks good.

_paralyzed_ 04.21.2009 11:41 PM

Looks good. I run locker lube in my centers. Video?

junkman 04.22.2009 08:07 AM

whoah, at first glance i thought it was an 18b with 10th scale tires. That really puts in perspective how big those wheels/tires are. On the center diff thing, pretty much all my bashers, have silly puttied diffs. I though for a buck I would give it a try, and so far has worked perfect at all but locking the center diff.

If you lowered it some more and took the wing off, you could drive it upside down.

nice car, i have tried big asphalt tire but i didnt like it......with on road 1/8th scale tires and when the car used center diff with 50k oil, it was good, power transfer to the front and a fast acceleration........when locked the diff.......wheelie on command or when tires didnt hold up the car loose control like crazy.......imo a center diff is always a good choice even on asphalt with a big motor......last time i used 2k rear, 50k center, 20k front.....now i am going to mmm with 6s too......i think its a nice setup......keep us posted......do you have a video?

RUSTY XL-5 04.22.2009 08:06 PM

I want to see it drive upside down.

Or he sanded the top of the shox. "sarcasm".

If you switched to a more standard road tire for your size vehicle you'll have less issues w/ your drive train and diff's. If you want though traxxas makes 500k diff fluid for their center diff's, can always give that a try. Standard tires will help keep your setup cooler as well.

Very nice! I had the Phalt lines on my E Revo and loved them! Great traction!

Well after a pretty devastating full speed sideways slide into a 12" high curb it was time to think about a new chassis and a few replacements... Spent the day accessing damages, Swapping diff oils (100k center, 50k front, 10k rear) and ordering parts...

I think I may have gotten a little carried away

i want some carnage pics if you bent the rc8 chassis. and yay for new parts

The Cow 04.28.2009 11:22 PM

I am sure I could have fixed it or just claimed it was a custom kickup? LOL

Its alot worse then the pics show but not as bad as I first thought.... Got a good few mm upward curve from the steering rack mounts foward (The new teckno brace should stop this next time I am hoping) not to mention a good few mm torque to the side.

I got home from work a little early so after a week of no R/C I finally got to hit the Streets :) I have to say I love this thing! I have the suspension pretty dialed in now and the power transfer issues are gone with the proper diff oils and suspension tweaks... The chassis is solid as a brick too, with the new upgrades and arm mounts!

Once I my custom Lid is ready I will get some pretty and proper pics (sorry for the low quality) but here is some as she sits with a warm set of electronics and a smile on my face :D

Thank for looking
