mmm controlling 2 Neu 1406 motors?
Question for you guys,
Is it possible to run 2 Neu 1406 motors off one mmm? This setup would be for a clodbuster, which for you young guys has one 540 per axle stock. I would like to run two small brushless motors, without having to run two MMM. Not rock crawling with it just bashing around the yard. Not looking for super high speed, maybe 30ish or slower. I choose the 1406 because it comes with a 25mm bolt pattern (same as the stock 540 motors). |
Unless you can sync the 2 motors by running them on a single spur you cannot run 2 bl motors on 1 esc... Why not get 2 MMs and some 3s capable motors? Like medusa 50-60mm 3000kv or so? About the same price as 2 1406 and 1 mmm...or cheaper.

no clodbuster is moa - axles move independently - this is technically possible on a car that uses 2 motors on a single transmission
|
To be clear; does the vehicle have a motor on each axle, or both motors attached to a motor plate on a central transmission. If the latter, syncing may be an issue and would be better served with a single motor. If the former, it should be possible since there is no mechanical syncing that needs to be done since they don't share a common spur.

soo, soooo sad, you guys don't remember the clodbuster....
its 1 motor on each axil, the tranny is part of the axil http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXGMR9&P=ML |
I have never had any crawlers and I never was interested in it, so there's nothing to "remember". So, if it is a motor on each axle, then syncing them would be impossible due to wheel grip. While theoretically possible, it's always best to use one motor per ESC for brushless.
Psst. It's spelled "axle". |
On second thought, I think I will just sell both of my clodbusters, and focus on my lst2's
I just thought it would be neat to have a bl powered clodbuster. Thanks guys.............. |
I too am shocked Brian doesn't know of the clod. That was like, one of the originals. It was the maxx truck before there were maxx trucks. It was the creme de la creme of the r/c world in 19yesterday. SHAME:gasp:

lol, I got into the hobby on '05. And like I said, they never interested me, so I never paid much attention.

I would keep one of the clods, they are a classic for sure.

Nah, the Kyosho USA-1 was much better....
::flame war initiated:: j/k although I did have a USA-1 when I was a kid |

I would keep the clod, I have one somewhere and planned to make a super class crawler out of it. Pretty much already setup to that spec anyways. |
Or 6x the opposite....
|
which would be 1/6th..... wheres my cookie ( <--- joke)
linc had the best recomendation, a pair of sw 4600 on a pair of 2s pack or just one BIG BAD 2s pack geared for 30 or so should be great. and cheeper than any other setup... |
How fast are you trying to go with a Clodbuster?
|
Mines at least 5.0mph

I'm not looking to run in any crawler class, just drive around in the yard and brag that I have BL clodbuster. I would like to keep its factory appearance, stealth mode.
The clodbuster was my second rc vehicle right after my black foot. I souped it up with "Trinity Matched Madness" motors, adjustable gear mounts, 6 "D" size Nicad and Novak Rooster. It also had 1/4 scale steering servo on a custom mount, full aluminum steering bellcranks and .500 inch lift kit. It carried a 55 chevy truck body by Parma I think, painted yellow by me and had one of Parma's Hemi Motor kits poking out of the hood. I had the body so that it would tilt back funny car style and hid all of the electronics the best I could. Of course it had full ball bearings and a chassis brace "ESP" and two home made ladder arm braces. It was the coolest thing in 1990 (13 years old) (way before computers) I ended up trading the truck away when I was 15 for parts to my real 4x4, 1982 Toyota 4x4 with a 350 small block chevy and 35 inch Boggers on a 13 inch lift kit. So this clod is something just to remind me a little of my past. haha I will look into the sidewinder setup. |
