Jato RC Car Question
hello i am from Phoenix, AZ and i am just wondering is a Gas Jato a good beginner car?
|
what would you do with it? race? bash? i would say an electric would be a better beginner car. easier to learn with and easier to work on, ect. also, if your a beginner i wouldnt choose a jato since i have been told they arent the most durable. a e-maxx would be a good starter for sure.
welcome to the forums by the way! |
bash and race and i heard they are very durable my friend has one and he said he had it since it came out and hasnt broken onceexcept had a few problems with the servo in the beginning and i don't like electric
and thxs for the welcome and sorry about the wrong forum |
I would go with an electric car to begin with. You could get a good ready to run RC10T3 for pretty cheap from ebay. But, if you must have a nitro, go with a RC10GT. The Jato is overpriced and all it does is go fast in a straight line and break parts.

i would recommend a mt over stadium truck. revo or jato are good. if you break parts i would worry because integy is starting to make parts for them. also, why dont you like electric?

If you got a friend to help, it will be ok. The 2.5 engineis a great engine to start with, but could be tempremental at times. So long as you got a friend to help till you know what you are doing, you'll be fine
Camel_rc, It isn't just a straight line racer. I have one i run on a track and it is great, but too powerful with the 2.5. I plan to run an OS 12tr for racing, but keep the 2.5 for running on pavement |
The E-Maxx is a great starting truck imo because it is pretty durable in stock form and there is a lot of hop-ups
what do you have against electric welcome to the forums |
I'd say an electric 2wd stadium truck is the ideal beginner RC.Failing that a nitro one like the jato or the associated or losi would be good too.electrics require slightly less maintenence since they don't vibrate themselves to bits.MTs are inherintly less durable due to increased inertia and require more maintenance due to being 4wd but are muchos fun.I don't think you'd regret getting the Jato.

ok thxs for the suggestions i will problay get the Jato i just don't like the electric i wanna wake up my neigbors lol electric just can't take jumps like gas if you know what i mean!

a brushless electic will out jump almost any nitro as well as out run.
|
that is exactly what i was thinking squee

yup thats why i want nitro to go out there at 1 am start driving it sounds fun to ge the neighbors mad bplus nitro i bleuive would be kewler since you have to keep it oup not like electric i just want it to race i also want it to play around with since also like nitro cars are like real cars so i might learn some new things about cars you know what i mean?

Not to sound mean but just by the posts that you've had on here I'm not sure if your ready for nitro. I sell r.c.'s for a living at the LHS and everyone thinks that they want to get into nitro because of how "real" it is but then they just come back crying when it doesn't start and the guys/gals that listened to us and bought electrics are back in upgrading to go faster and having fun! It's your decision but I'm sure I'm not alone in saying that you'd better get electric first. |
My dad got me an emaxx for my first real rc and said i could go nitro after i got used to electric but now i dont even want nitro after all the problems my friends have had with there nitros
|
Well my second was a tmaxx 2.5 and it pissed me off and sold it. Sold the first one to. Nitro is not all it is cracked up to be for a beginner. I work on real cars and nitros. They are not very simaliar. I agree with avery.
Then again it is your money. And if your neighbor shoots the tires of it don't blame us. :005: |

I think whatever you get it should be a kit and not a RTR.If you must have nitro i'd recommend one of the Tamiya nitro thunder range of kits over a Jato.
