jayjay283 09.22.2009 04:18 AM

looks like an old pepper spray/mace holster to me, though they are usually velcro now ? Have piggys run through your yard

hootie7159 09.22.2009 04:37 AM

Hahaha...I don't think there was a recent "luau" lol...hmmm...do you have any pics of an old pepper spray holder??

pinkpanda3310 09.22.2009 09:13 AM

Looks to me like it's part of a camp cooking set. Some kind of pot holder or something.

What's_nitro? 09.22.2009 09:30 AM

It's a bottle opener. No surprise you don't remember putting it there.....

Finnster 09.22.2009 11:41 AM

lol, this reminds me of the segment on This Old House called "What is it?" where they show some weird ass tool, they all make up some goofy story of what it's used for, then last guy says what it actually is.
"Hey Bob, its a pnuematically-operated femine napkin applicator. You see you load the napkin in here, attach this end to your 300psi air supply, favorite grease is loaded into this section here, and pulling this cord fires the applicator. Of course a long extention handle is installed here, as the operator, you want to be some distance away when this thing goes off, for safety reasons. Perfect solution for today's busy working woman."
-"Actually Steve, its a 2-stage overhead rivet gun used by roofers to install rooster weather vanes on the apex of the roof from the safety of the ground. Includes a caulking pre-applicator so rivet does not compromise the weather-tight seal of the roof."

Actually, go to Cabela's website and look at their game camera's. For 90 to 200 bucks you can have a motion sensing camera to take pictures of your nightly/daytime friends.

bdebde 09.22.2009 03:13 PM

Look up, it came off of overhead wires.

I'm actually going in a few hours to check my trail cam (for deer, not humans!)

They work great though. Most current models take pretty high quality pics, and have features such as night-shot infrared and videos clips. Never thought to use one for home security but it's a great idea.

Bondonutz 09.22.2009 04:19 PM

Post some Pics, Might be fun to look at ?

simplechamp 09.22.2009 04:29 PM

Will do. I'll start a different thread in the "General Discussion" area of the forum so I don't hijack this one. Hopefully there will be some good pics. Check for them a little later this evening.

+1 Removable pots and pan handle. (so it don't get hot) Have you seen any suspicious boy scouts hanging around?

BrianG 09.22.2009 06:16 PM

I'm pretty sure it's either a dinglehopper or a snarfblatt...

hes right its a "chicken catcher" dont ask why its called that but its used by catv and communications. that is the outside piece which the wire lays inside of and there is a wedge that goes inside to "pinch" the wire so it can be pulled tight and hooked onto something using the wire loop.

I'm ordering one of the infrared ones. I'm also debating what to do about the power system. The one I used to have burned through batteries left and right - I assumed it was because of the flash. Wonder if I could "lipo" it up?!?!?

lol, figures someone would catch that. I was hoping it would be a private joke between me and myself, and everyone would simply think I was "eccentric". I'd like to say I know that line because I have kids...

The infrared is awesome, great night-time pics without scaring the deer away.

I know my cam burns through batteries a lot too (even without flash), especially in the winter when it's freezing cold. I'm sure lipo could be used but it's a matter of doing it safely and making sure not to drain the cells too far. My cam has a provision for connecting a 12V lead-acid battery (small deep-cycle trolling motor battery was suggested) so I might try that.

Sorry for the off-topic rantings!

hootie7159 09.23.2009 10:07 PM

Hahaha...thanks for all the ideas guys....reminds me
of why this forum is so great....:) from
brushless to why is my toilet water circling the drain backwards...you will get answers...lol

hey slime...are you positive it's a "chicken catcher" used fr cables???

JThiessen 09.23.2009 11:09 PM

Yeah, he's right. I knew I had seen one before, then when he posted it triggered the memory. The line men who took down and reinstalled my lines when I cut down a tree used them.

jayjay283 09.23.2009 11:19 PM

Dude, look above, your cable line is fine. Im telling you its a finger holder, like the chinese finger cuffs for 17th century virgins so the man came back horney and the wife haden't self satisfied. Might be worth something on ebay

MTBikerTim 09.24.2009 02:26 AM

was probably catapulted into your yard from a couple of blocks away when an apprentice decided it would be fun to see what happens when you let go.

hootie7159 09.24.2009 03:43 AM

Thanks again for all of your help! But I just confirmed it IS a "chicken catcher" my cousin works for comcast..lol....well....anyone want a 17th century Chinese finger cuffs/bottle opener/spare hip replacment/dinglehopper/snarblartt..??lmk...I'll pay it forward..hahaha :)
