Looks to me like it's part of a camp cooking set. Some kind of pot holder or something.

It's a bottle opener. No surprise you don't remember putting it there.....

lol, this reminds me of the segment on This Old House called "What is it?" where they show some weird ass tool, they all make up some goofy story of what it's used for, then last guy says what it actually is.
"Hey Bob, its a pnuematically-operated femine napkin applicator. You see you load the napkin in here, attach this end to your 300psi air supply, favorite grease is loaded into this section here, and pulling this cord fires the applicator. Of course a long extention handle is installed here, as the operator, you want to be some distance away when this thing goes off, for safety reasons. Perfect solution for today's busy working woman."
-"Actually Steve, its a 2-stage overhead rivet gun used by roofers to install rooster weather vanes on the apex of the roof from the safety of the ground. Includes a caulking pre-applicator so rivet does not compromise the weather-tight seal of the roof."

Actually, go to Cabela's website and look at their game camera's. For 90 to 200 bucks you can have a motion sensing camera to take pictures of your nightly/daytime friends.

I'm actually going in a few hours to check my trail cam (for deer, not humans!)

They work great though. Most current models take pretty high quality pics, and have features such as night-shot infrared and videos clips. Never thought to use one for home security but it's a great idea.

Will do. I'll start a different thread in the "General Discussion" area of the forum so I don't hijack this one. Hopefully there will be some good pics. Check for them a little later this evening.
