new use for an old shell....
hey there guys and gals?....
this be my first post..... firstly, thanks mike!!! for helping me out with my orders etc etc....your services are first rate!!! well... i finished putting together my gorilla maxx couple of weeks ago but didnt have a suitable shell to cover it up... didnt like the idea of the shell sitting above the batts leaving them exposed....whats a guy to do right???.... so i whipped out some scissors and hack'd the crap out of my old txt shell,...here's the finished product.... just gotta tell myself...dont flip it...dont flip it!!! :035: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...1/P3220197.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...1/P3220196.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...1/P3220207.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...1/P3220215.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...1/P3220199.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...1/P3220198.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...1/P3220202.jpg |
I like it! A very unique and custom job.
And don't wory about flipping it, your front shock towers and wing in the back should keep that custom flat black body protected. |
This body is sick!. It looks like a Hot-Rod :018:

I like the way it looks. I think it is cool.
|
That truck looks awsome! With a bit more bling it would look even better! :D
ps. what towers are those? Never seen them before |
Those look to be the new flm shock towers. I like to get me a some of them but haven't yet. I have to see if mike has them in yet.
|
thanks guys!....yes them shock towers are from fastlane machine.....i actually ordered the model before this one but got this updated design instead.....was kindda shocked initially as i was really looking forward to receiving the "old" design.....but i guess these new ones have grown on me.
one things for sure..the quality and finish is awesome! |
I like it! It looks like a hot rod. definately cool. :)

actually, right now..i'm running this truck WIthout the bumpers (not wise..i know) but i feel that the stock bumpers clash with the look of the whole truck.....i've been searchin the web for sumthin that will "flow" ...but haven found anything suitable....anyone here got ideas? ....i'm not keen in alu ones coz with my driving,..they'll be bent outta shape in no time..haha. |
here are some pics of my truck gettin some runtime......

That is one of the coolest rc's I've ever seen. Instead of bumpers, you could look into some titanium skids that have a lip on them, for example these: http://www.greatassemblyrc.com/Titanium_Skid_Plates.cfm . They're expensive, but will last forever! Some other companies make skids like these, but the greatassemblyrc ones are the best.

very sweet looking truck
welcome to the forums |
I think a video would have been better. The pics was awesome though. Hey where the video at?
|
That is one very, very sexy maxx! those are the new FLM towers right?
NICE!! how do you like your HVmaxx? |
hey! thanks for the welcome..!
a vid??!! then you'd see how "great" a driver i am! :005: perhaps the next time i run this truck...if i can convince one of my buds to hold a camera??! yes, them towers are the new ones from FLM. i'm still trying to figure out the right pinion size for the HV.....ran some packs thru using a 16t pinion...ran really hot and the performance was...erm...well...kindda "BLAH" next i ran a 13t pinion and it was wayyyyy better. acceleration was great and topend was quite good as was keeping up with some of the 1/8 nitros that were at the bash.....bad weather cut that run short tho. i have my tranny locked into 2nd. and since i cant figure out the "science" of gear ratios......(yes i flunked maths)...i pretty much doing the "try it and see what happens" method of pinion selection.. i'm going to try a few packs thru the 13t pinion again this weekend, and see what happens.... anyone here using the the HV, with 12 cells, tranny locked in 2nd?.....what pinion do you use?.....oh btw the spur size is stock. |
My hv liked the lower gearing as well. I ran a 12 72 with big joes on mine. The 14 72 got hot and thermaled out some time. So with your tires and stock gearing should work out good.
|
wow thats a sweet lookin' truck. ya i does look like a hot-rod but also a buggy?????dont you think? is the body body is nice, i like it because theres little shine
|
yes the shell does really add strong contrast to all that bling upfront!
as of last night, i managed to replace some screwed up rear bearings that gave up on me during the last bash. wish me luck guys...i intend to take her out to the track again this weekend, who knows..maybe i'll convince one of my buds to be brave enuf to go near enuf to shoot a vid. |
Was that a Bullhead i saw in that last pic? Nice truck.

need your clarification here.....
hey guys, need your clarification on this part.
it says this slipper kit is for a Tmaxx, but am i right to say that this will work in my emaxx as well??? without having to mod anything???? i'm "iffy" on this coz a nitro using 32pitch just sounds...well, iffy to me....haha. anyone? TIA http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXBJB6&P=7 |
Yes that will fit and work on an emaxx. I like the strobe much better though.
|
Truck look great! I did something similar with my 3.3 emaxx. It is beat to hell, but I love the lower body look!

If you use the knuckles you have to use the turnbuckles. http://www.rustyonline.net/assets/images/IMG_0354.jpg |

That is seriously the BEST looking body EVER sorry if this has been answered, idon't wanna read alot on a friday night. but is that an extended gmaxx? and how did you get that body mount in the middle?>
|
Quote:
erm, its just a standard Gmaxx chassis, no extension.....it may look that way coz the shell sits way low and gives it that lengthened look. here's what the bodymounts look like...the one in front is bolted from the bottom, there's a stock hole in the middle of the "servoplate" and the rears (not extended bodypost btw..) are at the stock location. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...1/P3260172.jpg the hard part was trimming the nose of the shell to fit/clear the various parts, eg shocktowers, oil resevoirs... even the upper suspension links under full compression. |
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...1/P5200096.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...1/P5200097.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...1/P5200098.jpg finally got my rpm stuff and decided to go dye them parts a lil' different... yes i do like orange! haha. came out looking better than i had expected! anywez, need some help/advice again guys... since i was messing with suspension arms and stuff, decided to rebuild my shocks... what weight oils do you guys use in your shocks? font and rear?.... which pistons do you use? 1 or 2 hole....or 3?...my integy's come with these options. |
WOW! I really like the orange. Have you thought of dying a RPM bumper to match? Anywho, I'm not to certain on the shocks. The weight of the truck would help though.
