Need recommendation for E maxx

Ok;
I have just discovered there is an indoor track right down the road from me. I am intrested in starting to race.

I have an E maxx (stock) and a stampede (novak 5800 brushless).

I have pretty much just been a basher. It seems pretty apparent that the pede is not that good for racing but the E maxx should do ok.

I would like to get a brushless system that is pretty competetive with the T maxx.

I am not looking for CRAZY power just want to be the same as the T maxx's.

What would you recommend. I really like the fact that I can get the novak stuff at my LHS. Would the HV be close to the T maxx?

Thanks for the support.
Dan

actually the rustler would be a great racer with a few upgrades.

how many cells for the e-maxx?

fishmasterdan 04.02.2006 12:29 AM

I need to not exceed 4 cell lithiums or I have to buy a new charger.
I do want to stay under 14 for NIMH. Have not decided which way I want to go yet on batteries.
I am leaning toward 14 cells NIMH for the heat laps then lipo for the mains.

I want to stay with the 4wd class for now and might move to 2wd later (after I figure out how to drive ok).

I actually might sell the emax and get an XX4 losi. Anybody want to trade??

squeeforever 04.02.2006 12:40 AM

i have a xxx bk? on 4s or 12-14 cells i would go with the feigao 8xl or 9xl. it will give great runtime and have plenty of power but not to much for a small track.

g man 04.02.2006 05:12 AM

i would stay away from the novak hv bl i have had 2 and have been nothing but trouble thermal shut downs all the time does not matter witch gears i tried. if you want to blow the doors of the tmaxx an xl 8 with a warrior esc but be prepaired to do some upgrades

HotnCold 04.02.2006 06:57 AM

warrior 9920 and an 8XL would be a good choice. But as G-man has stated - power costs. Upgrades are gonna be right around the corner. But that is the fun part if you ask me.... And welcome to the forums..

fishmasterdan 04.02.2006 08:00 AM

Thanks for the info.

Squee,
Thanks but I want to stay 4wd.

If I go ahead and get the XXX 4 losi I need to put a power plant in that also. Would the 8XL be ok for that (It seems way to big)?

I am torn between spending the 600 on the max or getting a XXX 4 that I would not have to worry so such about.

The E maxx is fun Truck even stock.

Anyobody need a newer brushless Pede?

coolhandcountry 04.02.2006 08:42 AM

If you don't want to go with so many up grades. You can look at a 10L for the maxx as well. It will do pretty good for the cell count.

HotnCold 04.02.2006 08:45 AM

IMO - the maxx is the most funnest to drive ( cept for the revo anyways - LOL ) I would go with the maxx - lot more durable than the xxx also..

fishmasterdan 04.02.2006 10:46 AM

Ok I have decided to get the 8XL and the 9920.
I believe I need CVDs but the are confusing on which ones to get. I have the 2.5 E maxx.

Also I need to gear the proper gearing??

and new transmission gears.

What else is needed?

g man 04.04.2006 04:32 AM

talk to mike . he put me on to his [a list ]and i have not looked back. The “A” list would be as follows:

Warrior 12020 controller

Wanderer xl8 motor

“xl” heatsink/clamp (silver or blue available)

UBEC

Strobe slipper/spur/pinion

5.5mm bullet connectors

i already had mip axles and another good thing would be Maximizer 7075 Aluminum diff cups you can get all this stuff from mike. do that and you will have 1 mean truck . with no regreats:018:

coolhandcountry 04.04.2006 06:33 AM

IMHO the maximizer are tough. They are not bullet proof though. I like the 1/8 diffs alot better. I have broke the maximizer diffs.

fishmasterdan 04.05.2006 09:55 AM

Ok What size is the shaft on the 8 XL. Also what gear should I get. Want one to run all day on 6000 ION cells and 1 for racing at the track (long track)?

I was going to get the wander 10L for run times but they are not in stock.
I suppose the 8XL is fine but I think it will have to much power and be breaking stuff all the time.

O yea I will be running 5s 6000 MAH Lithium ions that metal man found.

g man 04.05.2006 03:04 PM

what about xl 10 .xl8 shaft 5mm .talk to mike about the rest he will know what you need and want. mike@rc-monster.com :018:

fishmasterdan 04.05.2006 05:40 PM

I emailed him and pm him with no luck.

coolhandcountry 04.05.2006 06:50 PM

He was having trouble with his email awhile back. He posted another email up on the forum but can't remember what it was. Try this one out rcmonstermike@gmail.com

fishmasterdan 04.06.2006 11:10 AM

Well I emailed and pm for a few days now. So I just went ahead and ordered the 9920 and the 8XL also I wasnt sure which pinion to get so I oreded the 14t 5mm. Is that correct??

I hope that gets some attention
Dan

coolhandcountry 04.06.2006 06:07 PM

Well dan it would depend on some things. The 8xl has alot of torque. If you have the stock diff ratio and running the 32 pitch gears I would go with the stock gearing 18 66.If you got a mod 1 pitch the 14 51 should do pretty good with the stock diff ratio. You did get a 5mm shaft pinion.

fishmasterdan 04.07.2006 10:13 AM

Well I got ahold of Mike and he helped me out alot. Great guy.

Now I need to work on getting some differentials. Do you guys use the stock covers and just buy new gears?? Has anyone used the new T-Maxx ones with the "hardened gears". I see them here http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-T-MAXX-2-5-3...QQcmdZViewItem

coolhandcountry 04.07.2006 02:29 PM

If you going to start buying new covers and diffs I would surely pic the ue diffs.

g man 04.08.2006 01:38 AM

i am running Maximizer 7075 Aluminum diff cups - Maxx trucks and integy diff cases at this point of time they have been goodi know most of the guys use 1/8th diff gears .but it depends on what you can afford

coolhandcountry 04.08.2006 01:24 PM

Well that is my point. If you going to spend the $50 for cups a piece. Then $30 for the housing. You are well over half way there. So why not put another 100 to it for the ue and have the better diffs. I ran the maximizer and aluminum housings. It would not survive the power i had on it. It is alot better though than the stockers.

g man 04.08.2006 03:46 PM

coolhandcountry i have seen these ue diffs gears before do they fit in integy diff cases or do you have to start again

coolhandcountry 04.08.2006 04:08 PM

The ue diffs won't fit the stock housing. sorry. Ue diffs have a kit with the housing with them. Or you can go with the flm hybird.
