Hey Guys
It's been a while, but here are two interesting videos you may be interested in. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nPP3g0tgKUk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JVRpYq12GTQ Cheers N http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/h...th_rearend.jpg |
That's awesome!!!!
|
love the dust trail...
|
The spool-up sound is just amazing, you don't expect to hear that from an electric- pretty tall gearing :mdr:
|
very cool nic
|
Cool vids man! Got pretty close to the wall there at the end huh! Man that thing kinda skates around left to right too, bet it's a handfull at speed to keep it on track. Keep up the good work Nic.
|
Very cool perspective! 200 is just around the corner!
|
Shame it rained, although having some of that dust/sand wash away can't be a bad thing!
|
Nice
Nice work Nic. Looks like keeping an R/C under control at speeds over 100mph are pretty hairy. Those videos would be much better with some onboard telemitry to go with it.
|
Very cool NIc - the rear view was pretty bitchin'.
|
Wow... that was fantastic!!! do you have some ground effects to keep that thing plated?
|
Every time I watch those videos, I get goose-bumps……..
The Discovery channel was there filming for the Daily Planet TV show - We got a late start due to a small scheduling miscue & the Auto Club research testing. After set-up and filming – the first cautious, shakeout run with mini cameras strapped to the body (only a slow 106mph)– hit the track around 2pm. About 2:30 the rain came with a vengeance, It’s a shame our day was stopped by Mother Nature. The weather report said that there was a 10% chance of rain and the chances didn’t even go up to a 30% till midnight. What can ya do… As we found out – the reason the car was pulling so hard to right was a missing drive-pin in the right front axle (I think I have to fire my mechanic- LOL) It was easily fixed - we where just about ready to go for another run --- > then the flash of lightning and the immediate crack of thunder happened and forced our team to scramble just to protect all the electronics that where out in the open. Now we just have to do it again - with better weather..........Jan, Feb – April, not sure right now. Overall – Fantastic Teamwork, I had a great time and looking foreword to 2012. Cheers N http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/h...RainedHard.jpg |
106mph with a missing drive-pin!
Nice work - and good luck in 2012! |
About 10am
An Absolutely beautiful morning http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/h...h_IMG_6420.jpg First shake-down run 2pm Then the rain -- 2:30pm http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/h...h_IMG_6425.jpg |
That spool up sound was awesome.
Great job so far Nic. :) |
Here's a video that descripes the effort, challenges and fantastic support from the great number of people that have contributed.

:surprised: wow.... good job man... that thing is amazing!!
|
That was very cool. Looking forward to the speed runs in 2012.
|
OK
Here's a little segment from the Discovery Channel from our last attempt - http://watch.discoverychannel.ca/#clip605963 The journey continues............ N |
Very cool Nic, How much damage from that 300 foot flight?
|
Fun
Well looking at that from this end it looks like a lot of fun. I am sure that it was a whole lot more than that for you on the scene. Watching the videos of the crashes all I could see were dollar signs $$$$$$$ as it went flying through the air andcame down hard on the tarmac. I have no doubt that you will get the 200 mph mark at some point, but getting there can be a bit frustrating I am sure. Its good to have the financial backing of the big dogs paving the way for you. Good luck with your journey Nic.

Thanks Guys
Yep - it is a lot of work, just hope we can actually hit the goal. Right now the Autoclub dragway (the one in the video) also hme of the ISC Speed Run -- is on the brink of being shut down - due to residence complaints of the noise............ Just finding a suitable location is very hard. Since 9-11 , all the airports are now off limits to extra-curricular activity. Any Ideas? Cheers N |
Nic,
Check out private airports. I office at one and am quite familiar with eveything. Runways are a no go but many of them have good taxiways which will work. On the weekends they are mostly vacant. |
