How would this be?

MM with UBEC on 4s with 9XL??? Would that push my Revo pretty good? I am talking 45+ mph with good wheelie power??? I just got my Tekno conversion and I am having a hard time holding off for the MMM and Neu motor package. What do you guys think? Anyone have a video of this setup? Thanks

BrianG 11.07.2007 05:53 PM

That setup is a decent setup for moderate speeds (~30-35). But 45mph+ will require tall gearing and might stress the ESC and batteries to get there. For faster speeds on something as heavy and large as a Revo, you really want 5s or 6s on an appropriate ESC and motor. Gotta remember that the MM, 9XL, and 4s is just about the cheapest setup you're gonna get and will not have super high power like the more expensive setups.

Jeremy1976 11.07.2007 05:54 PM

Okay I will wait then. I want a minimum of 45mph and wheelies at will. Thanks for the input.

BrianG 11.07.2007 05:59 PM

No problem.

Actually, do you plan on locking the tranny in second, or retaining the 2 speed? If you keep the two speed, you can gear it for ~28-30 in first, and then 2nd gear might be able to hit 45. This might be your best bet for the price considering your goal as long as you can live without reverse and using a brake servo...

9XL 4S MM is great... Seems a near perfect entry setup and will hold me until the MMM Nue...

I've now three of these setups in a REVO, MBX5T and X1CR...

Arct1k 11.07.2007 06:17 PM

MM can be re-sold in a heartbeat for almost list price... 9XL's can be had for 60

Go for it...

gtxracer 11.07.2007 06:19 PM

I'd say go for it. Having fun while the MMM debuts is priceless!

Yes I got the Tekno conversion that retains the stock Revo trans. I got the forward only control already in it and plan on keeping it a 2 speed. I will be using a servo for the brake. Thanks, as I said I will more than likely just hold off then it is winter here in wisconsin anyways so I can wait. I just got the conversion today and got kind of impatient. I got the front and rear end already transferred over to my 3.3 chassis. Thanks

That is crazy!

Arct1k 11.07.2007 06:36 PM

Exactly... So why wouldn't you go for this :)

Matthew_Armeni 11.07.2007 06:40 PM

The highest you can gear with the Tekno setup is 18/34 (for sure) possibly 19/34. If you install the wide ratio gear set you're still only looking at about 40 top speed. Either go up in cells as Brian suggested or get a hotter motor, 8XL or 7XL, if you want to go cheap, or if you want something better, a neu 1515 1Y geared 18/36 with the wide ratio should give you 45mph, if the winds behind you:lol:. That's fast though, I can try to get a vid up of my Revo, look at my sig for setup info, it's basically what you are talking about running. I'm pretty happy with it, but I still have the standard ratio, plan on getting the wide ratio soon. I'll try to get the vid up by Fri, if you haven't bought anything yet I'd suggest the neu motor, a 4S pack, and a MM. So your only real expense will be the motor.

Matthew_Armeni 11.07.2007 06:41 PM

wow, 4 posts while I wrote my 1:lol:

Thanks for the info. I think I will go with the Neu that you mentioned and a 4s. I think I will hold out for the MMM though. Any idea when it is to be released?

Matthew_Armeni 11.07.2007 07:09 PM

No idea on the MMM, but the MM can handle the 4S with ease. Unless you're going to eventually go up to 6S the MM should be fine and all you'll need to do is get a BEC. Or run 3S, a hotter Neu, and no BEC, that works too.

suicideneil 11.07.2007 07:52 PM

February is looking likely for the MMM.

Jeremy1976 11.07.2007 08:19 PM

Man I am tempted to drop the cash on this: http://www.impaktrc.com/product_info...oducts_id=1974
If you read the bottom it comes with the BEC and all associated things like the Novak fan as well. I just do not know what to do for another battery. Should I get some stick packs just for some playing around when the Lipo is charging or what? I do not want to spend this kind of money and go out and play for 15 minutes and then sit and wait for the pack to charge properly.

For sure, it's not a Baja, 45 min of runtime, and 10 secondes for refuel.:intello:

Its much rougher when you do own a Baja and are use to the run times.

That looks like a nice combo on Tekno's site. Not too shabby but a nice chunk of change!

As for the speed issue: Make your truck as light as possible! Try to put in a single speed center diff or getting a single gear conversion for your Revo tranny. Get some lighter meats too, those wheels and tires are rotating force, if you want good speed, get some nice wheels (Velos are pretty light) and some nice offroad tires meant for racing. Some Mulchers, Sportraxx tires, Bowties, etc. Search for different weights. I know the UE guys are VERY strict on their wheel/tire combos, they should be able to throw you some figures. You can also try narrowing your wheels, which takes off weight and makes for better traction.

Oh, and I'm pretty sure the pink E-Revo does about 30-35 MPH on 12 3000 Venom NiMh cells and the Hacker C50 Maxx system. I figure once I add a Lipo and a 18T or 19T pinion (17/66 now) then it will be even better. You should be able to hit 40mph if you don't just rely on the powertrain.
