LBA10 balancer keeps switching modes
My LBA10 keeps switching modes when I'm charging. It will do the same thing when balancing. All of a sudden, it just stops, and has a solid red light on cell 1. What gives?
Oh, and this is on 4s with the 1210i. |
I think I might have blown one of the cells in the LiPo but I'm not sure. Someone HELP!!!
I don't know how I could have done it. |
Have you tried balancing another lipo? If the bat not the problem, go ahead and open up your balancer and see if that button is loose.
|
I don't have any other LiPos, but the 1210i still charged some NiMh cells I have, so it has to be the battery or the balancer.
Are you talking about the mode button? |
Yeah, the button might be loose
|
I took it apart and it looked fine, so I'm gonna give it another test.

I got the same problem with an 8000 2s maxamps lipo i got. after talking to someone from maxamps, we determined that due to the age of the battery, a cell was dying. I let the balancer run for overnight and it finally balanced. What is probably happening is the same as me, Mine is a 2p, not sure about you. But the good cell is overcharging and causing a safety cut-off. Mine did with different balancers and chargers. I let it balance overnight, topped it off then took an hour to balance then topped it off again and it balanced almost immediately. I was told it would be safe till it fails to balance or it swells

That might have been what happened. I balance and charge my packs correctly, so it might have happened during the run. It's been charging fine, but very slowly at the last 5%. I've taken it off to balance it a few times when it slows. I think it's fine, we'll see on the next run.

I had to balance my brother-in-laws lipos and one cell on each was very unbalanced. It was a solid red light for at least an hour on one and almost 3 on the other. I jsut left them alone and it eventually started to blink, then flash quickly. When the cells balanced it just shut off. I re-read the instructions and it said that it's ok to leave them plugged in all night. I have a LBA6.
While it was discharging I put it in an ammo box with a ziplock bag of dirt on top, just in case. If it does blow it just melts the bag and then the dirt smothers the flames. |
