My MMM lives, but I have an issue.

Ok, so I finally got to install my MMM in my truck and got it calibrated no problem. Decided to get things going by just running a 2s 25c 5000 lipo to see what was what. Dialed a few things in and the truck was running great, was getting wheelies with just the 2s pack.

On to the issue. As I was running in the backyard I ended up spinning the pinion gear so the truck come to a hault. The pinion sort of got caught at the end on the motor shaft and the front diff case, wedged in. Got everything out and re-set-up, no apparent damage, only to find that the motor is stuttering to the point where it will not move, it did not do this at all before. Check all my connections and all looks and tests good. Tried a different battery and it didn't make a difference. The thing is I have no ring tones now from the motor, I did before, but the MMM is checking out fine. BTW, the motor is a Feigio (spelled wrong?) 8xl and is new. I had no heat issues, nothing was more than just warm, had only ran for less than 10 minutes.

So, think the motor took a shit or am I over looking something?

Thanks for the help,

Darion

Do you have another motor to try? That can tell you if it's the motor or ESC. Have you tried wiggling around the wires between the MMM and motor?

Check your motor leads but the abrupt stop may have damaged the rotor - you may have to open it up to have a look the magnet alignment...

I would recheck your connections. They should take a good yanking with no flex at the solder joint. If its not that, you probably have a burnt out phase in your motor.

Gonna likely be a bad solder joint.. I had the EXACT same issue.
Check your Motor Connectors and re solder.

No, I don't have an extra motor but I may very soon, was thinking to get a better one anyway. I have wiggled all the wires and done a good inspection of them and don't see an issue. I did use CC 5.5mm bullet's on the motor connection between the motor and esc, should they go?

Hope I don't have to do this as I don't even know where to start.

Did your car/truck run perfect for a while then suddenly start to act up? This is what happened to me.

JaySki,

Found your thread and it looks like I have some soldering work to do, hopefully that is the issue. Thanks in advance for posting your information.:yipi:

Well the issue was a bad solder connection at one of the CC bullet connectors. I just ended up taking them out and direct soldering the connection between the motor and the ESC leads and the problem was solved. :yipi: I am a bit surprised that it ran as well as it did for a short time and then the problem showed up from a bad solder joint.

Well, thanks for all the help, this forum rocks,

Darion

BTW, my truck wheelies so hard I can flip it over backwards with just a stab of the go trigger.:surprised:

Was bad joint one of the ones you soldered or one that was soldered by CC?

Looks like it was one of the 5.5 bullet connections I had done, they sure looked and felt right, no wiggle at all. I do still have a slight stutter now and again when the car starts moving but then it clears up. It doesn't happen to often but I think I will check the CC connectors that came with the MMM.

Thanks,

Darion

I'm happy for you man!

At least you are not experiencing any BBQ rituals like the others do.

May you have a safe ride.
