Im quite perplexed..

Hey guys im having trouble diagnosing a problem with my truck

Setup is:
Warhead
1515 1y
MMM
5s zippy 4000mah lipo

I ran the truck for a little bit this morning, the batt was at 110degrees, the motor was at 125, relatively cool but the fan on the esc kept coming on, i dont get why... if it was overgeared the motor would be hot at would the battery, and if it was undergeared wouldnt the motor get hot?

only the MMM is hot.

Addon

geared for 45mph

did you verify that you do not have a rolling resistance problem

if that 45 including tire growth?

I have an eRevo 4s 8000ma TRC and 1y geared for about 40. It weighs 11.2lbs... No heat issues ...

Can you gear it down and see if the heating problem goes away?

well no more testing for the day... 1515 just ate my transmission up :D

The fan came on when I ran both the truggy and the buggy with those motors... Now with the mods the fan runs all the time :) I really wouldn't worry about it...

Doesnt sound like a big deal to me. I say dont let it get to your head...

Over geared = hot batts and esc.
Under geared = hot motor.
Baddly over geared = hot everything.

If the fan only comes on for a bit, then goes back off........on........off........on.........off

Then this means it is keeping up with the heat production inside the ESC. It is getting cool enough to satisfy the thermistor when the fan shuts off.

I'm curious about your transmission. What let go? The output gear?

That would be the problem, try the kershaw esavage upgrade gears. That is a weak tranny, btw...
