Testing a New Type of Motor

Ok guys I talked it over with brianG and hopefully the thread wont get deleted this time. I will be testing some motors coming up soon. As I had said before. Here are the specs, notice somethings have been changed.

Specs

Size- 44mm x 73mm
KV Rating- 1500 to 2100.
Poles- HQ 2-pole
Internal Resistance- To be determined...

Features

Kevlar wrapped rotor, rotor will be reinforced with dual supports on lower and upper shaft, shimmed rotor, 100k rpm ceramic bearings, finished bonded rotor, 12awg low resistance wires, 5.5mm plugs, motor will be all jet black color including black wires, will be finned can, HQ 2-pole design, removable rear endbell, will be rebuildable, high strength neodymium rotor with a rating of n38-n45, high quality windings which offer super low resistance.

The company has shipped out the cans and endbells along with the shaft. We are still looking to order the neodymium magnet and outer can magnets along with the windings and high quality bearings. Once some of the stuff arrives, I will post pics threwout the motor's build.

N50! N50!!!

Sounds really cool. I will be keeping an eye on this thread. Can you build me a 550-size motor that will survive at 100K rpm? Maybe use a titanium braid-wrapped rotor?

I was looking at the highest quality Neo but I think Ill stick around with what neu, lehner and hacker use which is around the n40ish range if I remember correctly. And for right now I am not building motors for anyone. Trying atleast get mine done.

Ehhh, I do recall that the "weaker" grades of NdFeB can take more heat. So I guess that's OK. :mdr:

Sounds cool. I will be watching.

I think you forgot that you have a partner here...:intello: That'd be me! No lie either, we're doing this together, thug. This should be an exciting experiment, and hopefully turns out good.

I thought I was dreaming last night as I was reading about this great new motor you guys are working on and then poof it was gone. I will watch this one to see how it goes. Sounds pretty cool.

As long as this thread is basically an "R&D" type of thread, I don't think the power that be will mind. But I would strongly advise to avoid making this thread seem like it will even possibly become a sales item. And it would be bad form to get all kinds of feedback/suggestions/etc here and then go elsewhere to sell them.

If this thread disappears again, it will most likely be the Monster that did it and would refrain from starting another one.

That said, it will be interesting to see what kind of results you get (and maybe how many ESCs burn out testing them )

Hopefully none... lol

Just to let you guys know. Our first couple motors that we will be testing will be 2-pole just to see how far that will get us.

I'm curious, are you doing this to save money, to make a more powerful motor, or just to do it? Either way I will appreciate what I learn. Lotsa pics please!

Were doing it because were curious what a 2-pole of this kind of build will be capable of. Yes pics will be posted threwout the build.

pretty ambitious, I have a hard enough time keeping my r/c's in one piece
