All present and correct :D

Thanks Mike, my SuperShocks arrived just this morning, with no problems at all. I just built them up with 70WT oil, and wow! The quality of these things is amazing. They're lightyears ahead of the old GPMs, and I haven't even tested them yet. I used the same oil in the GPMs and can instantly tell that these are giving much more damping, and are so much smoother too (tighter piston tolerances etc).

I'm one happy customer. Thanks again.:D

Yeah, those supershocks are the way to go!!

did you enjoyed building them as much as i did?

:p

Dagger Thrasher 01.09.2006 07:35 PM

Well I gotta admit, I did enjoy it. Everything just slipped together so easily! I'm going to run the blue springs in the rear, and reds in the front as the instructions suggest (although my Dagger is a little lighter than even a lightweight Maxx). I'm not sure if the 70WT oil will be too heavy now. In the old shocks, it wasn't heavy enough! We will see I guess...I can't wait to install them and try them out. :D

coolhandcountry 01.09.2006 07:39 PM

I run the 70 wt in my flm maxx. It is about 9lb not batteries. I put 16 cells in it to. I run the red front and blue rear as well. It seems to do real well. Jumps nicely as well. I like the shocks my self.

Dagger Thrasher 01.10.2006 08:02 AM

Nice! Is that a four-shock setup?

Serum 01.10.2006 11:34 AM

Yeah.

for an 8 shock, that oil would be too thick.

Dagger Thrasher 01.10.2006 08:00 PM

Cool, thanks. It turns out that the 70WT oil is far too heavy for my truck...it just bounces when I drop it, so I'm going to change down to 50WT, along with use white springs in the front and red in the rear. I'll get some pics up when it's all installed properly. :)

coolhandcountry 01.11.2006 11:36 AM

I had it on as a 4 shock set up. I had on with rpm arms. I move the shocks in to middle hole cause was to stiff on outer hole. 50 wt sounds pretty good as well. Are the springs to stiff or just the oil. I hope you get set up right.

Dagger Thrasher 01.11.2006 12:15 PM

Thanks Coolhand. :)
Well because the shocks are so long, I've had to do some custom mounting. The only way to mount them without increasing weight too much or mess up the CG was to custom-mount them like this:

...which probably explains why the damping feels so stiff with 70WT. But hopefully with the lighter oil, it will be better, and it should be quite progressive with the shallow angle. The rear arms are longer, so the shocks are positioned further out. The springs seem fine too, the whites look to be just right at the front with "arms level" ride-height. I haven't been able to mount the rears yet as I needed to orer some more long hinge-pins.I just hope the force of the shocks won't bend them!

Thanks for your help. :D

coolhandcountry 01.11.2006 04:20 PM

Yeah it is out by the wheel. It looks awesome though. Well I hope it works out for you.

Dagger Thrasher 01.11.2006 06:44 PM

Cheers mate. :)

lydiasdad 01.12.2006 12:01 PM

You have done so much custom work already, why don't you fab up some custom shock towers?

Dagger Thrasher 01.12.2006 12:17 PM

Well, I've found this shock-mounting style to work better than using separate shock towers (my old shocks were mounted in a similar way). It's lighter, gives a lower centre of gravity and provides very nearly as much travel as a normal shock tower setup. Also there's the cost. I had designed some towers (in a similar style to the chassis) which I was going to put into CAD and then get CNC-cut...and although this wouldn't be expensive (around £40 all told), money is pretty tight about now. :(

I'll see how the system performs, if the new shock layout cause issues then I might go to more conventional towers. :)

Looks good, and glad exactly what you ordered came. I had a little mishap with a big ebay supplier. I now have 2 sets of 2.2 Moab tires, when I paid for 1/8th moab tires... we'll see how that one works out

Dagger Thrasher 01.14.2006 06:53 PM

Thanks man. I hope your get your eBay problem sorted. :)
