problem with V-twin e-revo
 

Just installed 2 VXL systems in my dads E-revo. We followed a guide from the traxxas forum and its all linked up as the guide says, but we cant get the systems synced. Both ESCs are on, but only 1 motor is running, weve tested each system and both work indidually, but just cant get them to run together at all. Any help would be much appreciated.

Are you using a y servo splitter from the same channel to both esc's?

Have you checked that both are spinning in the same direction?

I bet one motor is running in the wrong direction like arct1k said. Take one motor switch any two of the three wires and see if that works.

Hi, one motor is reversed already, like i said, we tried just linking each esc up individualy and both work and power the car, but when there both linked together, only 1 system is running the car. Both LEDs are on on the ESCs, but only one flashes at a time. And yes, he used a Y lead from both ESCs to a single channel on the Rx. He followed a guide from the traxxas community, and according to that, its linked up correctly.

Sorry but something is obviously wrong with either the wiring or the guide - Please could you post up detailed pics.

Hi, there the best i could do as the hex set were in my dads car from yesterdays bash so couldnt get the rx cover off. Hope this helps a bit more

Sorry it is the rx I really need to see...

Things to check...

1) Both ESC leads go to the throttle connection in the ESC via Y servo lead
2) Only 1 of the two ESC's red servi wire connects to the RX (either cut one of the red wires on the branches of the y lead or remove red wire from ESC plug
3) Check direction of rotation on motors to ensure both are powering the spur in the same direction

Despite the birds nest it creates it is a simple enough setup. rgds

Ah, our guide didnt say anything about cutting one of the red wires from the ESC, i presume thats to disable one of the BECs??

Yes It might not be liking get back voltage... You don't have to cut just remove from clip with screwdriver and tape...

PS Tripple check both motors rotating correctly... :)

Hi, we tried disconnecting the red wire from one of the ESC and it didnt make an improvement, it also meant that the ESCs werent synced as we had to urn both on individually. The ESCs LEDs seem to flash really randomly, not in sync when the throttle is pressed, is this normal. There the pics from the reciever box, with the Y lead and bits.

unplug everrything and start from scratch,

1. Your batteries in parallel?
2. Y harness. If you can, try switching the leads and rule out bad connection Example, if (esc,yharness branch) ESC1-1 and ESC2-2 and ESC1 works. Try ESC1-2 and ESC2-1. If ESC2 works, your harness is fine. IF it dont harness is bad.
3. Do both respond to calibration?
3. wire everthing BUT the motor and see if both LEDs respond.

Looking at his pictures, yes he is using a parallel harness that send the voltage to both escs, known as the "UNSLOW" harness.

V-twin = kill it with fire.

Q. Do the motors work at all when they arent meshed to the spur?

I cant think why it wont work, it all seems wired up correctly.

Do me a favour- remove one esc from the Y-harness and try them individually from there- swap them over too, to check it isnt the Y harnes causing issues (since they work fine individually).

I would simply remove the pinions from both motors and watch how they act. Just don't run WOT or for very long unloaded.
