Traxxas slash brushless

"medusa mr-036-050-3300v2-3f"

anyone using this motor in his slash with a 1/10 mamba max esc on 3s lipo ?

Which setting are the best for this :

Start power : ?

Punch control : ?

Motor timing : ?

Metallover 04.18.2009 11:28 PM

Do you have the motor and esc yet? I would start with the stock settings and if it needs more/less start power or anything just change it. Everyones setup is different, especially when it comes to little minut things like esc settings.

I have heard medusa motor prefer high start power and normal motor timing and lowest punch control...

I'm running 4s on the Medusa 36-50-2200 and am using normal timing, highest punch control, and low start power. Works fine for me, and temps are great at the end of a ~40 minute run using a 5Ah pack.

I agree with metal. tune it when you get it. that's what i did at least.

Metallover 04.19.2009 07:27 PM

What would be a good kv range for 4s? Brian, you said you used 2200, I wonder if the 3300 or in between would work good on 4s? In a Jato?

BrianG 04.19.2009 07:28 PM

I'm sure the 3300 will work fine on 4s. I was personally shooting for decent speeds with great runtime.

Was this in a slash? I'm thinking maybe a 36-60-3100 in a jato. That shouldn't run too hot, I would think... It's go the extra length which is always good.

I tried my feigao 540c 8xl ( 2084kv ) into my slash it work fine geared for around 40mph on 3s the only problem I have no motor heating but the battery drop fast as hell anyone have any idea why ?

That motor is made to be run on higher volts. It should be drawing quite a bit... What battery do you have?

Metallover 04.19.2009 10:53 PM

the motor is a huge motor for a slash. If you are using a maxamps or smaller capcity pack then you'll have to get a better battery. Nimh won't be able to put out enough for the motor either. That is a 4-5s motor so if you are running a mamba max you could disable the Bec and run 4s...

We will have to know what battery you are running too.

Not true, Lower kv motors draw less curren then equivalent motors of higher Kv.

Yes, it's in a Slash. The Jato weighs roughly the same (especially since I have the FLM tranny and CVDs on the Slash) so what works in one, should work in the other. My jato is running the 4600 combo and works perfect, the same size Medusa is even better.

Jeremy1976 04.20.2009 09:20 AM

Medusa recommends 8-15 degrees of timing on that motor.

Jason 04.27.2009 08:17 PM

thanks for the input guys!

now what the best gearing for 3s on this motor on my slash ? :

"medusa mr-036-050-3300v2-3f"

I run 58/12 on 3s and not so impressed sound like the motor dont have any torque/power... look like got too much top end and not much start/power/acceleration... maybe because jato gearing ? nitro jato are geared stock for ore top end/speed then start/power/acceleration speed I think...
