hpi savage flux?
i was thinking about getting it but was wondering what ahve been the problems with them so far? im planning on selling my emaxx with mmm and maybe even lipo minus motor to get one. can you use the FLM savage conversion chassis with the flux? since i like having just one pack and having it protected inside the chassis. im jsut a basher and my emaxx just doesnt seem like it will handle all the abuse. thanks

buy a flux. Good idea
the flux parts are not the same (motor mounts ....) as the nitro ones, so the flm likely needs some doctoring to work. there's some coming from gcmachine.ca for the flux soon, that has the battery inside like you want, or make one like some on here.. then you get what you REALLY want |

Great truck all in all. Get a Castle link, dial in a bit of punch control, and stock up on hardened ring and pinion gears. Otherwise it has been a solid truck for me.

Some peoples are stripping the pinion and or spur gears, while others like me are having problems with the main drive gear in the center diff stripping. Other peeps are bitching about the outer diff bevel gears and pinions getting stripped. http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m...x/gearwear.jpg In the end, it just really depends on how hard you drive the truck and 6S will push it that much harder. I would get the truck with GOOD, QUALITY Lipo's "NOT MAXCRAPS" and then just play with it and see what needs to be replaced/upgraded as you use it. The castle link would be a very good idea if you plan on going straight to 6S, as the power it puts out is insane and bordering on uncontrollable. I've been running mine for the past three weeks and the only part thats really "failing" is the main drive gear which is not hardened steel but HPI did announce one, so i'm gonna pick one of those up as well. I tried greasing up a new regular stock steel one, but its still stripping. http://www.hpiracing.com/press/102514.html. I also went ahead before my 1st run and changed the diffs to 100k oil to give more power to the wheels, the stock diffs come with light 1,000 weight which is bleh for bashing. My another BIG recommendation is to get some velco straps, because the stock clips and rubber feet won't do crap to keep the batteries in during a hard landing/crash http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m...x/security.jpg And now i'm going to selfishly show off my Flux in action  http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m...lux/bash11.jpg http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m...lux/bash14.jpg http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m...lux/bash20.jpg http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m...lux/bash22.jpg http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m...Flux/bash8.jpg |
thanks for the pics and reccomendations i appreciate it. hopefully fast lane machine makes one but if not i can always ahve my dad make one out of stainless steel. i plan to only run 4 or 5s so im probably going to clean the maxx up and replace some parts on it and put it up for sale. any one know which fans work on the MMM mine died the last time i powerd it up. or can some one link me to the v3 case with fan?
this truck really is going to be be for bashing and stuff. maybe light racing with friends. i probably will do the lst shocks and 17mm hub conversion. savage seems pretty bulletproof too me. |
my friend buy this truck last week....for him its total crap(AS I SAID ..FOR IM!)in 27 min of running on 4 cell lipo (old maxamps),,on the grass 2 rear diff broke(bevel exploded)i know that the slipper was to tigh but after loosening the slipper he melt one slipper pad...:whistle:the stock tx and servo are nightmare,,,,all phillips screw...the battery case cant keep your lipo in the truck...
just to said that,,,before buying this tuck you have ti have more$$$ for upgrades:yes: not a bad truck but.... |

I'll try out that velcro strip idea - the tray latches do leave something to be desired. Yesterday I was out showing it off to my brother (he was in from L.A.) - I was cruising it up the street at about 25mph and I blipped the throttle thinking I would just do a little wheelie. It did a complete back flip and kept going down the street! Doubt if I'll ever be able to do that intentionally, but it was damn cool! |
