Hmm very strange. You are using the stock on board BEC correct?
If you are getting steering then the radio should be bound and the switch is working. If it isn't calibrated the lights should still come on. It doesn't even have to be plugged into a receiver to get the lights and the initialization and Auto-LiPo tones.
There is a remote possibility it is the throttle channel on the receiver. Switch the speed control to the steering channel and the servo to the throttle channel. Power the speed control on as normal and try the throttle trigger. If the servo doesn't work, you have a problem with the radio. If the steering does work, that eliminates the radio.
If you verify the radio works, I think the next best option is the Castle Link. Hook it up and click on the software tab; select firmware version 1.21 (beta) and click the Update firmware button. After the update, hook it back up to the truck and try again. Sometimes flashing the processor can fix strange problems like this. If this still doesn't work then give us a call in Tech Support, we may have a bad Monster; and it will need to be punished for being bad.
Let us know how the testing works and we'll get this sorted out and get you up and running.
