Rootar's Xray 808

4 Attachment(s)
Well here is my 808.

-Rc-m battery/mmm tray
-Rc-m 808 mount
-Neu 1512 3d/f
-Hyperion G3 5s 3300 35c
-Airtronics 94360 servo (.125tq @ .07speed)
-MMM with deans wire and 4mm plugs (i hate the 6.5s)

weighs in at 3,184 grams (or 7 pounds and .3 ounces) RTR with JC body and Crimefighters all around.... its pretty light  should run for about 12 minutes....

Highest point of the car (not including the wires) is the MMM case and next is the motor.

the 1st pic is it with the big bulky loaner setup out of my truggy using some old protek 5s (JC body barely fit)

2nd pic is the goodies that came in

and then the rest are it finished

cant wait to race it tomorrow.

I love the tray, awesome idea

rootar 09.26.2009 11:24 PM

its the same as the one used on Josh's mp9 it take a 140x44 battery and the MMM just slips right in there and has a groove cut down the middle to route the wire..

bdebde 09.27.2009 01:17 PM

That is a nice light weight set up... I like it!

brushlessboy16 09.27.2009 01:22 PM

Awesome!

It ran great today at the race. its been a long time since i ran buggy (about a year) so it took me most of the day to get back in the swing of things with the buggy, but i was turned out awesome i lost to josh with his mp9 by only 1/20th of a sec. we were rubbing wheels across the line, great race at the end, i waited for him twice during the race but id rather run a close second and have a good race than run off with it. all the same it was a blast.

Report:
i was geared 15/42 running crime figthers, motor was only 130-138 after 7-8 minutes of running (6 min races with 3-4 extra laps usually) battery never broke 105, MMM never broke 135.... very happy with the setup, and i only ran the pack to the cutoff 15.5v once at the end of the day and got right at 13 minutes so its got plenty of runtime for our 10 min mains...

Nice setup rootar. How are you liking the G3 pack? How do you only get 13 minutes to cut-off? I get 25 mins with a 6s/4200 pack in a Revo, running 1512/3D as well at the track, balance of technical, speed and a very long straight (two actually), it's a big track. I don't run that conservatively either, basically as much throttle as I can pull without being useless. What is your driving style?

zeropointbug 10.07.2009 03:47 AM

On second thought, that sounds about right, if you have a more aggressive driving style.

rootar 10.09.2009 07:34 PM

my driving style is "fast" you would say, i normally knock out the overall TQ for the day, not blowing my own horn, honestly i practice ALOT ill spend 5-6hours dialing in one car at the track..... ill have my gf time my laps..... Completely rebuild my cars before every race..... you name it.

the G3 vx pack is awesome i did sneak 15 minutes out of it at a different track this past week... but it was a fairly rough and small track.. but its a solid pack and runs great all the way till the cut off.

Looks nice Ross..the esc mount in combination w/the batt. tray is a great idea. I recently ordered a custom tray from Mike and totally forgot about that option.

Very nice, getting my 808 together soon also.

little update i made two aluminum spacers to fit under the Center diff mounts and im now using an Associated Plastic 46t spur gear on this car, it bolts right up to the xray diff gasket and all, youll need to properly shim it, which took one extra shim under the bevel pin on the spur for me, and youll need to use an rc8 o-ring on the spur as the xray one is alittle small in OD..

btw if anyone needs a few rc8/sc8/rc8t plastic spurs gear i have about 40 of them in 46t, 48t, and 50t it really makes the car nice and quiet! But with the shims under there i can also use my slipperential if i take it out of my truggy.

Hey Guys love the build rootar, but need some help i want a new buggy for next years race season. Cant decide between the Losi 8ight 2.0 an xray 808. What would be the best buggy for racing. Already have a neu 1515/1y an a MMM for which ever one.
Thanks

rootar 11.05.2009 08:41 PM

some like the losi because its fits more people's driving style but its all standard hardware and stuff

the Xray is a MUCH better car quality wise, drives alot more precise, and uses metric hardware.... you cant go wrong with the xray youll be happier in the long run.

electric 11.05.2009 08:46 PM

okay thanks rootar i have really been leaning toward the xray because of the quality an another thing is that the price tag is a little cheaper so i think that the xray will be my buggy.
Thanks Again
