best 2.2 truck wheel for crt.5

Looking for a set of 2.2 truck wheels i know any 12mm hex works. But wondering what people have better luck with. I like the hpi scorch. They look sick in black. Also have thought about rpm revolvers for a traxxas rustler.

Forgot to add i would like to get a but wider. Has anyone used the traxxas front wheel hexes to do so. I know there are wider than the stock crt.5 ones. Good idea isnt it. Well thanks for any input.

Proline 2.2's have one of the widest offsets

my CRT wheels

the wheels i made for my RCM.5 use the OFNA truggy dishes with the trinnity ultra firm truck foams i then cut 1/2 in from the width so they fit a buggy width wheel.then because i run on a track and almost never bash im using 1/10th truck double dees or hole shots.this combo gives a wide offset and the stiff foams hold up the sidewall in hard corners and my truck realy likes them

I too am looking for a set of 2.2 truck tires so I can run some mashers on mine with a locked CD. I can't seem to find any wheels that specify hex drive and I know there are a lot that are pin drive which I don't want. I'm just lookin for some basic dish wheels.

more details on .5wheels

hey again ,a set of the OFNA truggy dishes "4ea" is about $10.00, the trinnity ultra firm foams are $7.oo a pair and they last for ever i just cut the sidewall out andpull them and wash them and ive reused my five sets atleast three times and they still hold the tires up fine and then what ever truck tire works for you.

I have black rpm revolvers with gladiators. They look and work great.

I wound up using these in chrome. With proline gladitors. They worked great.

I did go with the traxxas front rustler hexes. Had to swap out the pins with traxxas pins cause the ofna ones where to long.

The only problem i had was the axle on the traxxas car is a bit thicker than the stock crt.5 axle. so there is some play in there.

And after putting the front wheels which have a deeper offset and the hexes i only get about 1 1/2 to 2 turns on the wheel nuts so i might go back to the ofna hexes to see where it lands me. As i dont like not having threads into the nylon part of the wheel nut.

Use the Losi 12MM hexes from part number LOSA3260. They are only .175" thick compared to .235" for the Traxxas hexes. Plus they will fit the axle better because they are designed for that size axle.

good to know thanks.

boostedg60rado 11.05.2009 10:02 PM

well actually the play is in the wheel opening. not the hex drive. But i think it will be fixed when i get more bite with the wheel nut.
