mini revo

what would be the best esc/motor from Castle that would fit in my mini revo?

squeeforever 02.16.2010 05:27 PM

I would probably go with the MM, and perhaps a small Neu. I wouldn't run a combo they offer.

E-Revonut 02.16.2010 05:48 PM

One of the 28mm motors they offered about 2 months ago would prolly do ok, but a Neu would be awesome. A sidewinder esc is more than capable of handling this little guy buy a MM or MMpro would also be great. Better yet I want to see a MMM 2650 combo on there!

You might want to read the bold print in that link that says not designed for the 1/16th Traxxas Mini Revo and Mini Slash.

...just a thought. :rules:

We did some pretty extensive testing using the 26mm motors, and the results were generally not pretty. Even the most conservative setups struggled, but were sometimes manageable. The 1/16th E-Revo and Slash fall into a gray area for our motor lineup. The 20mm and 26mm are too small, and the 540 cans don't fit the stock setup. I have seen a conversion that allows you to mount a 540 or 550 can, and the results are... interesting. They have a 5700kV on 3s. And my personal favorite, the Monster with a Neu 1515/1Y on...6s. I've seen a video of it doing well over 70mph. Although we at Castle do not recommend such craziness, it's still pretty freaking cool.

Those are extreme setups of course, but a Sidewinder with a 4600kV or 5700kV will provide much more torque and speed than the stock setup. You would need to upgrade the batteries a bit to support the bigger motor and additional weight. Some people are choosing to put in a Sidewinder, Mamba Max or Mamba Max Pro in place of the stock controller, but using the stock motor. This gives you all of the Castle Link functions, and of course the Castle support to back you up. :)

Stock motor is actually a ripper and works well with a Mamba Max on 3s / 4s

I was running it for months with no issues

Now have the Tenbol BB mount and the castle CMS36-4600 and it flies

Cheers

Like I said, if it were me, I would run a MM for sure. It might be overkill, but alot of us have them laying around so why not? :mdr: The size is small and the have more adjustment than needed, and there not to expensive either, which is perfect for a 1/16th. Why drop a ton on a 1/16th scale? Doesn't make to much sense. Unless you can get a Neu cheap, I don't think i would run it after thinking about it. I'd take my chances and run one of the Hacker knockoffs from BidProduct. They have a 2858 that should be more than enough for a mini Revo and you have more kv options than the Castle 26mm motors.

Fast5sRevo88 02.17.2010 04:49 PM

I' m running a Mamba Micro pro with stock motor without issue.

phatmonk 02.17.2010 05:00 PM

I ran a Sidewinder and 4600kv in my mini slash on 3s.Never got hot.I even tried a HW 3200 and it worked great on 3s.

Semi Pro 02.18.2010 12:02 AM

nothing like being able to do triple back flips at 60mph

crusey_aus 02.18.2010 12:14 AM

The new 1409 series Neu's should fit they are a standard 36mm size

That will be my next motor if I get sick of the castle

For info those that are looking for motor options

The 4600kv geared 28/45 with good foams is good for

40 mph on 2s lipo
60 mph on 3s lipo
80 mph on 4s lipo

Cheers
